I see we’re ‘kneejerking’ on Warnock atm. Not happy about Saturday’s performance from a man we largely trust and appreciate but have had reason of late to question. Swords as we know has long doubted his integrity - and rumour has it that the manager left Col (temporarily) 'pissed off' over the Buz call…

What is it with us that we have to create taboos around criticism of current under-performers? Criticism doesn’t mean slagging people off for the fun of it - or 'knocking'. It means judgement: speaking as we find.

Whilst I’m convinced (and have been since the outset) that Warnock’s the man for us right now, it may come as a surprise to some that I do not regard him as God. Therefore I do not pray to him nor do I condemn his detractors, momentory or otherwise, as blasphemous. Managers and players are our entertainers who sometimes perform well and other times crap.

All 16k of us attending a game see things from different angles and personally I come on here to shoot the breeze and see how others have judged what I’ve seen. Exchanging views with my fellow audience is almost as entertaining for me as the game itself. However, it does rankle with me that some expect us all to wear rose tinteds as some sort of crass reaffirmation of our loyalty to the club… How ****ing arrogant is that?

Guess what? Taarabt’s a hero sometimes and other times a ****er, as are Warnock, Barton and the rest. What I want to know is what you all think of who this week – and why. Whilst hardly an exacting science, your views inform, educate and keep me fully abreast of all things Rangers right up to the minute. Rarely read the back pages anymore ‘cos they’re usually way behind!

So, what about you?

Are you a bit of a knee jerk like me; or a rose tint (bless)?

Do you think it’s disloyal and makes you less of an R to say you’re thinking an owner, manager or player(s) are **** atm?

Come on. Own up!

[And are we allowed to change our mind again next week without being called a hypocrite?]

Warnock made the wrong call on Saturday and should rightly be criticised. But he has made so many right calls since joining us that his overall value to the club and ability as a manger should not be questioned. Not unless he makes decisions like he did on Saturday every week for the rest of the season!

I have similar views towards Taarabt. He should rightly have been dropped as he had 2/3 very poor games and there is nothing wrong with criticising these performances. However, we all know of his ability and that we wouldn't be where we are now without him. It shouldn't be forgotten.

Okay Neighbour. That says you're a bit of a knee jerk with rose tint tendancies!

These days i'm careful what i post on here, especially right after a game when passion is running high but if im honest im just delighted to be in this league, to have the owners and the manager we have and to be mid-table at this stage of the season.
(maybe im a sad soft twat!)

Ha! Possibly. Though I would actually say I was probably neither. A fan yes? but not blinded by love for the R's.

I wouldn't condemn Warnock's momentary detractors, I am indeed one of them from time to time, like yesterday. But the 'otherwise' bit? As in always? I would say yes that is indeed 'blasphemous'. It beggars belief anyone who would not rate Warnock. It's been said on here before, but from Championship relegation candidates to a mid-table Premiership team in a couple of years ain't bad. He would have to do hell of a lot more wrong to start seriously going down in my estimation.

I haven't seen anyone question NW's overall value to the club, but he has yet to prove his ability at this level. Not saying he won't be good enough....just that I'm not yet convinced.

It's for the manager to judge the performance of all players, good or bad; for the owners to judge the manager same way - and for us (the paying fans) to judge the whole kit and kaboodle week in, week out.

Any judge who's too lenient ain't helping the club at all. That's why second best is always so acceptable in these countries. Fact is, second just ain't good enough. If the writing's on the wall for this person or that, it needs to be said, read and acted upon. Namby pamby judgements set namby pamby standards.

You're right mate, that was an overreaction. It was more in response to Brixton saying he wouldn't argue with Warnock's detractors 'momentary or otherwise' rather than directed towards anyone who has criticised him on here.

Possibly the most reasoned and articulate post of the season to date, Brixton. Well said.

I think it's a shame how some are attacked at a personal and insulting level when they express an opinion that somebody else disagrees with. You'd have thought they'd insulted someone's mother at times. We should all learn to tackle the ball and not the man.

My position is that hes our best Manager in 20 years (Francis included because he was sh*t 2nd time around). Perhaps that doesn't say much for the man but its something. I questioned his integrity regarding throwing Cup ties which I believe he has done and something I disagree with vehemently. I also defend the right to call him COLIN or any other names we used to call him before he became our Manager otherwise its hypocritical.

True he made a balls of it yesterday with a nut-case substitution but overall hes doing a bloody good job.

Moot point maybe but I don't think I suggested I wouldn't argue with them Coldharbour... just that I wouldn't condemn them (as being less loyal to the club than the rest of us).

While I like to regard myself as balanced, I clearly lean towards the less reactionary side, which you have labelled as rose tinted. If not regarding someone as crap because of one bad game or decision that didn’t work out is “rose tinted” then I plead guilty. I do find the knee jerk reactions by some on this board completely ridiculous, good players and good managers don’t become bad overnight. However it takes all sorts, if everyone thought the same as me, I wouldn’t come here.

Agree Uber. The opposing view to our own is often the most thought provoking.

Out of curiosity Roller....did you think my thread on Warnock was a knee jerk reaction?
