Nobody key is missing from the attack and yet it still looked toothless today. Plus these results were still happening even with Vicario, Vdv and Romero in the side. It’s so much more than just missing players because of injury.
Agree to a point. VDV and Romero might at least bolster that back line a bit more. That may also allow Gray to play in the middle of the park and who knows. I am trying to stay positive but this period is testing me slightly....
We’ve been consistently inconsistent since November 2023, since then we’ve had fully fit squads and injury hit ones so I don’t think the results are overly affected by those situations, even if performances might be. Of course having a fit squad gives a you a greater chance of winning but it’s proven not to be a guarantee. If I had a choice to change ownership AND manager tomorrow I’d do it to be honest but seeing as Levy/ ENIC’s going nowhere the logical choice is to let Ange go. It’s not a case of being “Ange out” like how we’ve been with previous managers but it’s partly because he is failing as a manager for a start but ultimately because this hierarchy won’t deliver the calibre of player (and amount) he needs for this system to work. So the best hope is that sacking and hiring a new Jol/ Redknapp/ Pochettino who can over perform is the only realistic way of progressing under ENIC.
Gray didn’t get game time in the middle when they were fit. Gray will probably be back on the bench when the injured defenders return imo.
Attacks always look toothless when they don't score but even the best attacks in the world don't score in every match. Attack clearly isn't our issue, because we are outscoring everyone in the league. Playing so many matches with our second choice defence doesn't explain why we've been below standard there? Of course we are going to have some poor results...the issue is whether they are so significantly worse than expected that you need to take drastic action. They are manifestly not.
You expected Spurs to be firmly in the bottom half and to have lost half their league games after nearly half the season gone? Today wasn’t a one off. Like myself and others have repeatedly pointed out, the league form has been inconsistent (even that’s generous) for well over a year.
No I didn't expect that nor have I ever said that I did. Of course our league form is inconsistent. But it's not consistently bad which is what would be necessary to make the deductions about the manager that everyone is so keen to make. We've got nowhere near the best attack in the league but we've scored the most goals. Ange must be doing something right.
Lost half the league games this season. Only won 7 from 19 Bottom half of the table Conceding way too many goals. Again I’ll say it, been like this for most of his tenure. I’m not seeing improvement, in fact it feels like it’s getting worse under him.
You keep repeating facts with no analysis explaining why they are significant or why they are due to Ange's performance. He has lots of above expectation results and just one bad loss plus lots of close matches that could have gone either way. People over-reacting isn't helping.
Problem is, just how much is he doing wrong for us to be 14 points worse off than at this stage last season, sitting 11th in the table?
He is taking a lot of risks and they are giving unusually volatile results. That isn't necessarily a bad thing.
TBH, the passing seems to play a part in it In our own half we play the bold, risky passes and they usually pay off - but in the opponent's half the passing feels a lot safer, a lot more sideways, and a lot more touches than the maximum of two which are needed
Results are dreadful. That’s not an opinion. That’s a fact. 11th in the league and 9 defeats from 18 games.
I think that’s because he wants us to always score the perfect team goal. There often seems very little in way of players wanting to hit a thunderbastard in to the back of the net. And it’s not like we don’t possess the players to do as such; Son, Maddison, Porro and to a degree Kulu can all strike from distance.
No-one is saying it is a good thing...but you are calling for Ange to be sacked which I think needs something very bad to be happening. If we had the same number of points and lost 6 matches by 3 to 5 goals I would be inclined to draw a different conclusion but our result sequence is so bizarre it is unsafe to draw any conclusions
But scoring goals is manifestly not our problem. I also don't think we would concede fewer turnovers and fast breaks against us if we took more risk in the final third. None of the reasoning about what is going wrong fits the facts.
