The Slater of previous seasons would've done too. He's always been disproportionately good in front of goal for his overall ability, until the last few weeks. The one today I thought was a double bad miss because the Pedro shot which preceded it probably should've been a goal too, that was a great move and he set himself up for a shot in a glorious position, but hit it pretty much at the keeper when the far corner was begging.
Agreed the tactics / formations / approach have all looked much much better…..but the players limitations are the bigger problem now
I suppose we can take some comfort that we've upped our game slightly since the German got the elbow, sadly though it's all 'cold'... Going into the game,Preston were draw specialists and hadn't won at home since the beginning of October. We turned up Today and fixed that for them. The next 3 games have suddenly become more significant than ever and the worrying part is..These 3 teams are clearly better than Preston.
Whilst this is true if we had Selles/Alzate/Hughes/Palmer/Millar/Belloumi/Zambrano we’d be absolutely fine and found the groove, freak injuries have marred with some poor decisions for the perfect storm, I am still confident though we have all of those available and no Walter life would be looking a lot better.
he’s torn his hammy having a dump?? How the **** does that happen? That’s a big push / strain to result in a 8 week lay off
Kamara is shocking and his attitude stinks. Genuinely don't know how he's still getting a game and that's with the injuries. He does nothing.
Not taking good chances is lack of quality and because of this it puts added pressure on the defence. We never seem to be able to keep a clean sheet and it’s costing us every week. Obviously losing our two wingers has had a big affect, Replacements out wide haven’t been good enough but that’s all we have got. Today I don’t think Preston had that many shots on goal but get the result needed. We are desperate for strengthening but it won’t be easy because we need players to make a difference in games like today. Getting rid of a few won’t be that easy either. We need to pick up 3/4 points over the next 3 games which won’t be easy. Hopefully the second half of the season will be much better than the first.
Yep,looks a lazy ****er to me as well...We need serious grafters in the position we're in,not Bambi on Ice.
Preston North End manager Paul Heckingbottom said: "We've been far more dominant than that in so many games and only got a point, so I'm really pleased that we've come out on top when the margins are really fine. "We weren't too bothered if they have the ball but I think we gave them too much respect at the start of the game. I felt we were just slightly off. We didn't quite get to the ball and we were a little bit behind the press. "But then, as the first half wore on, we got better and had our moments but we needed to up it in the second half and I thought we did. "Until the goal, we were building momentum which was really pleasing and then the goal was fantastic from our point of view. I'm really pleased with it. Then we had to defend well and we managed the game really well." Hull City manager Ruben Selles said: "We created situations to score at least one goal and then in one moment we went 1-0 down and never recovered in terms of the score. I think we were competitive enough. "We created situations, it's not just the situation with Regan after five minutes. We created other situations and we need to make it count, but we created the situations so we just need to work on the details. "You come away from difficult games in difficult competitions and first of all we need to be competitive and second of all we need to win football matches. "Without being competitive we are not going to win games. We need to continue developing that competitiveness and in games like today, when we have the opportunities, we have to make it count and then we'll be in a better place. "We have to try to not make excuses. We know we can do things. Now we have to do it to the very end."
Played just ok in the first half and crap in the second. Pedro looked up for it but should have stuck his chance in the back of the net. Alzate and Puerta played ok but not up to the standards of the last game. Both wingers huffed and puffed but produced little. And as someone said subbing Omur and Bedia on was pointless. A dispiriting performance from the team as a whole which has rather dampened the Christmas Spirit. Our passing is simply awful. I woud like to see the stats for that. Omur is such a dissappointment this year. He was my favorite last season and I expected great things from him this. We need to send him on his way.
According to the Injury Thread, Andy Smith not ready to return to full training? Andy Smith - Ankle injury - Doing gym work, not yet ready to get back out on the grass. Not that he's a suitable stand in anyway. We do have Finn Burns though (who?). Jeez, we need one hell of a good January window!
https://not606.com/threads/hull-city-deepdale-26-12-2024-15-00-hrs.415933/#post-18051249 My take on it, see you later in the season hopefully it will be better than that what was witnessed this afternoon
I still don’t get the ‘we need rid of Omur’ stuff. He got under 20 minutes today and didn’t look bad with what little he had of the ball. I feel like as a club we don’t deserve his quality and I will always stand by that we should have built a team around him. His talent was obvious to see at the end of last season. I’m really hoping he gets a proper chance (preferably Sunday) to prove his doubters wrong so that we don’t lose him in January.
It’s a tough one isn’t it, he’s obviously got a bit of quality, and on paper he should be our number 10. It’s crazy in our current state that he isn’t in the starting 11. However since he’s been here, I don’t feel he’s delivered, has he got something like 2 assists and 0’goals? We need him to be one of the players that drags us forward but he doesn’t. Equally some might argue he’s got dross around him, what can he do
