Match Day Thread Blackburn Rovers FC v Sunderland AFC – Boxing Day 26th December 2024 - KO 15:00

Obviously our attention will be on another poor start for Sunderland but I’ve been so impressed with Blackburn and their energy

 

Those ricochets just never seem to fall to us- always perfectly placed to opposition player

 

Should be 2-0 really. All coming because we have no outball.

 

We really start games bad…

 

we’re also not keeping possession. Too many attempted flicks and attempts at a speedy transition rather than getting the foot on the ball and keeping it for a bit

 

These have been brilliant so far. Cant keep this energy level up for 90 though, surely.

Need an outball somewhere. Roberts shows for one.

 

Be canny if we ****ing turned up at some point.

 

Ye compare our flicks, like that ball by rigg to Robert’s to how Blackburn move it

they move it forward the guy immediately plays it back, but at the same time they’ve got a number of forward runners and options everywhere and it goes forward again with real momentum and danger

 

That was brilliant from Dan Neil to turn and play through to Isidor, who was then too weak

For me, the tactics we start with are becoming too obvious when it comes to setting up against us. We literally never change anything, no matter the opponents.

 

Would fall over in a breeze recently!

 

Blackburn seem to be set up to cut off our “triangles” on the wings. They’re not pressing us too high making it difficult for us to play through. They seem to have really done their homework

 

We're miles off it here. Need some magic from someone.
