He certainly put in a shift. They were trying to get him off because he had run himself into the ground but there was a long period with no break in play. He was exhausted but still not prepared to let their player get away. Could easily have been a second yellow, but I think the ref knew exactly what had gone on, and so was lenient. Brilliant, commonsense reffing IMO, though would have been fuming if it was one of theres.
Yeah, currently maybe championship top half level? Though his footwork and distribution ain’t great. I mean he’s no Ryan Allsop
I thought on Saturday Pandur was as good as an outfield player with his feet. He wasn’t smashing 50 yard diagonals to anyones feet - but he looked composed and never dropped anyone in it. Compare him to their keeper who is supposedly good with his feet who found touch more often than Rob Andrew and gave a goal away.
I think bang average is a bit harsh, he’s obviously pretty good, and at his age has a huge amount of development and improvement left in him. He’s probably not one of the top keepers in the league right now although I’m sure his performance levels will increase somewhat along with the team over the remainder of the season, and he could well end up being up there by the end.
Maybe it's my definition is different from others but if he's not one of the best or one of the worst then he's bang average
Remove the 'bang' and I'd say it's about right,he's average to me.Nothing startling, nothing dreadful...
Has huge potential. But he isn't the best keeper currently at the club and it'll be interesting to see what happens with Rushworth in January.
Pandur is very solid. He’s done really well despite the huge pressure. Good with his feet, good at claiming crosses/dealing with corners. Will only get better
I think he seems to have a great mentality. He’s already overcome the Acun pressure which seemed to have claimed him in pre season
Spot on. However for those who want to put the boot in to Rosenior then Pandur needs to be Best. Goalie. Evah.
I'd be staggered if Rushworth didn't go back in Jan, with the form he's shown the freeing up of a loan spot and wages to put to use elsewhere would have to be the sensible decision. I'd imagine Brighton would have no issues taking him back either as he'd find a loan elsewhere with no issues
I think this is a good and interesting post on the whole, but on the save percentage stats, I suspect other factors account for the difference there. Not many people would say Allsop is a better shot-stopper than Pandur, but the latter has surely had harder shots to save than the former who played in a better side. But more on your actual point, a fact that I don't think gets acknowledged enough is that keepers spend far more time kicking, whether it's short or long, than they do saving. If you look at our last three home games, Pandur hasn't really had a shot that's tested his ability. He's had routine saves and in each game he's had a nigh unsaveable shot. So him being a good shot stopper has been basically irrelevant for three home games. But he's been heavily involved in possession. So you can see why a lot of managers value that side of it over shot-stopping.
True but Allsop was letting too many of those routine saves in, that was the problem, not that he wasn’t pulling off enough worldies every game, so it definitely is still relevant.
Tells you something that he went to Stoke though when everyone knew he was the best shot-stopper in the division at Rotherham. Teams don't want pure shot-stoppers any more.
I think the extent to which that was happening was grossly exaggerated once he became the whipping boy. Some of the goals that people pretended to be outraged about him not saving were ridiculous. For example there was a point blank header into the bottom corner at Coventry where this board went into meltdown over him. But certainly, he wasn't in the team for his shot-stopping and isn't as good at that as Pandur is, nor as good as Ingram was for that matter.
