Exactly GE2. But IMO that's a reason for optimism and keeping the faith, not the reverse, because it means the solution lies in our own hands. Hoffball is structurally sound; the mistakes come from players still learning to implement it. Individual errors are exasperating, but nothing like as demoralising as being consistently outplayed by superior teams (c.f. our recent experience of the top tier).

The Coach was brought in to change us to an attack minded team. What you are suggesting is not in his agenda and nor should it be. Personally I think that most of us had it up to here with the defensive first tactics of Smith and Wagner. Transition inevitably means going through bad patches - keep the faith Rick and enjoy the ride even if it is a roller coaster.

I'm not saying we should become defensive, just that we should put more emphasis on team defending when we play attacking football. Everybody seems to assume that the 'transition' is going to be successful in 3 years time. What if we gain promotion only to be torn apart in the Premiership and JHT is sacked like Farke was? That was not enjoyable by any means. I will judge JHT by his record and what I see on the pitch, not by hopeful promises of improvement some time in the distant future. I hope it happens, but I won't hold my breath.

We won't know for a couple of years at least whether the transition is successful or not and we certainly cannot write it off after 20 or so games just because we have hit a blip. I agree that we need to be better defensively but in my view that would come from better defenders rather than a change of tactics. As for going up and staying up, that is becoming virtually impossible. It is already beginning to look like the 3 Clubs who went up last season will come straight back down, the previous season all 3 came straight back down and the season before 2 of the 3 came straight back down. To me the transition means going back to being a yo-yo Club with the income and parachute payments involved with the faint hope that on one occasion we might stay up for more than one season. That might sound a bit depressing but to me that is the reality of the situation.
