I can just tell plenty are going to talk about a lack of ambition and behave like they've been wronged if the club don't sign players. It really doesn't matter that much in January because the summers not far away.

There's a bigger picture than this season required, but the likes of Craig Hope will feast on any lack of short term activity.

The long term future will be brighter if they get the right players and don't settle for second, third or fourth choice.

I feel - and it’s just a guess - that Eddie relies too much on loyalty and needs to be just that bit more open to getting someone in, at some point you have to go for it. The best players in the league at this point were all relatively unknown quantities, Semenyo, Huijsen, Van Der Hecke, and on and on. There’s even posts here about Huijsen saying we should be all over it. What’s Guehi don’t better than him, or the two CBs at Forest?

Standing by Almiron, Trippier and Wilson has proved to be a really bad bit of decision making, and a lot of that blame surely has to sit with Howe. Nobody is perfect and Howes done some, even most, things right, but this player loyalty blighted him at Bournemouth and at times does the same here.

 

I'm simply saying it really doesn't matter If they can't get the right players. If the right players available it'll happen otherwise they'll not bother which is the right way forward ino.

 

A dream scenario would be buy Bakayoko, loan-to-buy Eric Garcia, pre-contract with Jonathan David and then go all out for a keeper in the Summer. That’s more or less us done for the next 18 months.

Sell Almiron, Wilson, Targett, Lascelles, and maybe even Longstaff.

 

Provided they don't end up buying expensive tripe the waiting will be worthwhile.

 

There's a happy medium somewhere - looks sometimes like we go all in on one player without really having a good feel for the market. Olise, Guehi. So we spent our scouts entire time watching Palace.

 

The only one I think we sell is Trippier because he wants out.

 

I reckon Miggy is gone this time, I reckon Wilson possibly. I think Tripper is already gone, Not a chance they sell Longstaff. It's ****ing bonkers anybody hoping we make Europe thinks its even feasible to sell a homegrown when we're loads short on them.

Loans never are to the benefit of the Club taking the player. Short termism which we should not entertain unless there is an option to buy included.

Why is it pleasing to hear that a club who did **** all last January, even less in the Summer are going to have yet another "quiet one"?

I don't like this about Howe, he just doesn't move forward quickly enough for me. "Destabilize the squad"? What does that even mean, so Miggy or Targett are that integral they can't be moved on? That's evolution, and necessary in football to move forward and improve.

Recent history has suggested huge amount of inactivity and inflexibility. We need to change it up. Wasn't literally everyone on here agreeing that the Summer's utter stagnation was a really bad thing and contributed heavily to some poor early season performances? Whilst there was disagreement on Howe, the constant was that not enough was done in the Summer. I just find it surprising that we're always so unprepared in the transfer windows.

January doesn't represent good value so I'd rather just wait personally. The need for signing players just doesn't seem imperative at all next month.

If the right player does happen to be available at the right price or if someone is stupid enough to buy the players Newcastle can't get rid of then maybe something can happen.
