Just looking at motd. This game was made for Szoboszlai. A normal game doesn't have the space for him to drive into like that. His pace on the ball and direct drive absolutely destroyed spurs Their so called midfield was not bothered to run back and they don't block any passing lanes so slots favourite 3rd man passing could knock the ball around one guy and there was a break 4 v 4 break on every time
Same number of fixtures in the second half as the first. The only way to making it longer is to have massive success. 3 league cup games max 9 cl games max (2 league) 19 league games 6 fa cup games max. 2 international in march. (6 first half)
Incidentally motd said pickshite made a save not a tackle. I can't see any contact on the ball at all andche dived in two footed
if we’re lucky, we can rest during an fa cup run; at least definitely for the first game….we also know that we can rest players for the last 2 CL games. Now, if you add two quality signings into that mix and rotation becomes easier. I know it won’t happen but…..
That is the definition of half. If we're to hold out then we may have to repeat performance of first half of season, hope not to have major injury woes, etc. The end run is always going to be nervy because even if we have a point gap in early April our last games will be tough.
Yes, difficult but you need to find players who can fit in and are actually fit as well. Alisson, kelleher, Jaros Trent, Bradley Robertson, Tsimikas (I'd buy here) Konate, Gomez VVD, Quansah Gravenberch, endo, morton (this is the one for me, a must buy and let the kid go) Macallister (again this is where imo we don't have the cover, jones is only filling in that deep) Szoboszlai, Jones, Elliott Salah Chiesa Jota, Nunez, Diaz (again this is actually one of our weaker spots due to injuriy and madness) Gakpo Diaz If i had my choice on just one player it would be a CM to help macallister and gravenberch. I think we have a player to help in every other position. HOPEFULLY Christmas day a big present to the fans is dropped on LFC.com saying new contracts all round.
What a brilliant game of football. Loved every one of our goals, could have been 10-0. Shame we gave away 3 soft ones but makes the day a little bit better for their fans who braved the weather to be there. Szoboszlai was brilliant, as was Gomez and Trent looked really up for it as well. As Slot alluded to, without the switch off, that's as near perfect a game as you'll see.
I was only half listening, but I thought they said that the ref's apologists called it a save, but they themselves called it a tackle and that he was very lucky not to see red.
Personally thought Trent looked up for 10 mins and from then on just strolled around . Not long before their first goal they were turned over the ball and launched a counter attack Mac .Gravenberch and Szob rushed back and about a minute later Trent literally walked into shot
I thought he was excellent. One on one with Son four or five times and got the better of him every time and his pass for Diaz's goal was a thing of beauty. The last game he played, he gave his man free rein all game. Today he didn't. On balance, I will take the not busting a gut in defence but great at playmaking player that he is. Some people are down on him constantly, like with Salah last season. If you're looking for his weaknesses, you'll find them. I prefer to react game by game.
i was reacting to his defensive performance yesterday where he worked hard at start of the game and then strolled back to his defensive position from then on .His great passing has nothing to do with this. PS Son is done as a top player
One thing that was pathetic was the spurs player not being sent off. Clear pull back to stop a counter near the end of the game. Already on a yellow. Somehow Mike Dean tries to explain that because it’s the end of the game annd was in our defensive 3rd and result was done it didn’t need a red card. Totally ignoring the fact gakpo was booked for a trip on spurs player just outside their 18 yard box in first half before stopped guy progressing upfield. what a pathetic excuse and just offers an insight into kind of the refs that they don’t consistently apply the rules and will let teams and players off depending on the scenario.
