Match Day Thread Preston v Hull City

Could be a decent game against Blackburn,the recent game was a war of attrition that suited neither team.If we get decent weather and a lush pitch it'll give us more indication regards improvement.

Should be a good open game of Football.

 

I wonder if we will see the ‘Red Bull’ 4-2-2-2 under Sellés this season. Used it at Southampton as caretaker and Reading for the first few months but jacked it in at Reading as he didn’t have the personnel for it. I think with having our two best wingers out injured all season with ACL injuries and Kamara not showing enough, it could work with Pedro and Burstow up front, two of Palmer, Mehlem or Ömür as the two number 10s, two of Simons, Alzate, Slater or Puerta as the double pivot and the back four and keeper as usual.

I know he got an assist but Alzate still doesn’t look sharp enough as a holding midfielder. Too casual on the ball, loose touches and passes and lacks physicality and aggression. You can tell he has quality but he plays like his boots are a size too big.

I was worried the last ten minutes because Selles didn't sub off Pedro and Longman both of whom were completely spent.

 

We had only used 4 (out of 5) subs but had used 3 (out of 3) "stoppages in play or opportunities" so couldn't make any more.

Not done our match thread yet, but we never know what we get from our lot, great against Leeds abject on Saturday, two central defender out one suspended, one injured, tend to draw most matches so 8-8 draw

My mistake, was even mentioned in commentary on the day tbf

 

"Luckily" managed to get "the last spot" (the City ticket office's words) for collection at Blackburn (as will be unable to collect from the MKM now). Apparently Blackburn only allowing a small number of tickets to be collected. Since when has that been a problem? Assumed it would be common sense to make it readily available as normal, especially over Christmas with places shutting down and the regular way of working going out the window for a couple of weeks. Bizarre. Not been an issue other years at places like Hillsborough and Wigan.
