We have mate and at times I get frustrated/dissapointed with them not doing what they were them first few matches. But then I think about the fact they are a very young team, the level they were playing early on would be difficult for most teams to sustain and I can never take away their effort or fact they give a ****! I know you aren't his biggest fan but the difference in character of player we try to sign is a bratwurst of fresh air under KS. The piss taking party has stopped, just a little later than salmon strides declared!
Don't think we were at our best yesterday but we still controlled where the game was played on the pitch. 821 passes were attempted in the match (416 SAFC, 405 Norwich) and 515 of them were in the Norwich half (240 SAFC, 275 Norwich). That's what good teams do, they make sure the game is played in the opposition half.
I know the talk is of benching Isidor and putting Mayenda up front but I'd keep the team as it is. Aouchiche can affect the game more as a sub for Isidor imo, when the game has opened up. Good to see Roberts and Mayenda switch wings for a while. Gave a different dynamic and caused Norwich problems.
Most teams have purple patches throughout the season. Few weeks ago Norwich & Boro knocked in 10+ goals in two games and now Norwich are on a run of poor results and Boro aren’t exactly running away with things. We’re a young team and as fans we need to show patience with them (repeating myself here) We’ll not win them all but as Sheffield United found out you’ve got to work your socks off to get the better of us. Long way to go yet.Keep the faith.
I thought Mayenda was good on the right against Bristol C before he got switched when Watson went off injured. Was beating his man and putting balls into the box, not sure if playing off the left suits him as much when he can’t cut inside on his stronger foot.
delighted with the result yesterday...another comeback from a goal down. I mentioned it in the match day thread, but Patto piss-farting around in his own box with their strikers close at hand, will one day cost. every time he has the ball at his feet he has my heart in my mouth. He is a great shot stopper, but this messing about and his distribution needs some serious work
When Roberts and Mayenda switched places we looked more dangerous imo , Roberts and Adil combined beautifully down the left for Roberts to score his only goal in open play for two seasons in the previous home game . I know one goal proves nothing , but it makes you think we should try switching more often.
i see plenty saying we do not have the players to be able to change things, yet when they swap places by choice or need they always shine plus we are looking at several players ready after the new year to add extra bite, so i stick by my original thought that they will be better second half of the season.
Ballard anarl.. looked a bit clumsy at times yesterday and was playing some hospital passes to the other defenders! However, his aerial strength was what got us back into the game yesterday and I think it’s a must for your CB’s to be solid in the air. O’nien has been great this season and I wouldn’t say Ballard deserves to start over him at CB but I’m a bit old fashioned in the sense that I want 2 commanding CB’s in my Xl. I want them to be able to defend set pieces and offer us a threat from our own.
well just watched the whole 90+ back, i thought i had missed a lot with the comments of cheating but i still don't think there was a lot of it...sainz was a pain in the @rse right enough but he got plenty back of mepham, might be why he calmed himself down. still think the ref could have done much better as, imo, he 'missed' quite a few fouls on our lads but gave them every slight push...not norwich's fault. pretty sure the wind caused most problems and made a few 'coming together' tackles look worse than they were... patto looked as if he was holding his left arm a couple of times, wonder if he has a slight injury.
I wouldn't take the captaincy off Neil as he's growing into it, and giving it to Mepham wouldn't achieve anything, but fingers crossed we can sign him up permanently for next season. Cut above every other defender apart from O'Nien (arguably). We'd be in a strong position to bring him in long term.
I'm not sure he is. They were a great combination and looked to be at a similar level. Don't forget Mepham can't spray it about like O'Nien, it's not all about winning headers.
Nice to see the Norwich supporters getting themselves all upset about 'our rough tactics'. What they're missing is that it's pure retaliation and, yes we've changed. When we have a team that plays football, such as Oxford, we also play football ... ... but we're no longer the soft touch we once were. Reap what you sow and, as a bunch of farmers boys, you should know that
Mepham does play some quality passes, not on O'Nien's level in terms of vision and accuracy to both wings but good for a CB.
