So, last night's first Roundhouse gig...what to say? The Damned strap line is '48 Years of Anarchy Chaos and Destruction '. Over the years, things have calmed down considerably. Not last night. From the opening bars of the first track, it was bedlam. I saw more people 'hit the deck' than I have done, possibly ever. There was a fight and a bloke, who was at least my age (wearing slacks, a cashmere sweater and formal shirt) got his nose broken after reacting to his Mrs falling to the floor. She didn't belong where she stood and the husband was as much at fault as the bloke who punched him. 'Sensible's a ****er' got a few airings. For the first time ever, I heard 'Vanian's a ****er', which drowned out a story about 'Plan 9 Channel 7', that I was trying to listen to. Mrs B's foot got trodden on by a bloke who was the spitting image of the comic store owner in The Simpsons. Still, you can't complain. It's The Damned. That's how it goes. If you can't take it, go and do something less 'interactive'.
Struggling to get out the door tonight, as we're both full of cold, but it's not acceptable to miss an opportunity to see the boys play, so Lemsipped up, it's boots on! Once more into the breach, dear friends...
We'd just got to the Northern Line in Morden, but not on a train. Apparently, Camden is overflowing with disappointed Damned fans. We're off for a curry with our daughters, locally, instead. Saturday is The Ruts and Witchdoktors at 229 The Venue so chance to rest up beforehand. Get well soon, Captain!

Heads up for Sky Arts tonight 9pm The Specials live from Coventry Cathedral ruins and at 10.30 Shane McGowan & The Pope's a 1995 concert
RIP Jon Camp Won't be known to many on here, but he was the original bass player with Renaissance, and an incredibly talented and innovative player and singer. Arguably only Chris Squire could be considered on a higher level within the Progressive genre. Saw the band a few times live and he was an amazing player. Another sad loss. They're coming too bloody fast these days! https://www.loudersound.com/news/renaissance-bassist-jon-camp-has-died-aged-75
Through (reliable) unofficial sources, word reaches Brian's ears that Captain was hospitalised with flu and exhaustion on Thursday. It's a lesson for us all, I guess. Whilst I still think I'm young and fairly fit..., my body doesn't bear out that delusion too often these days. Maybe, it's time to take it a bit easier...? So, tonight is The Ruts and Witchdoktors...
We're off to the Cadugan hall for The Unthanks " In Winter " matinee then off for some drinks with friends later
Up until my recent arthritis problems I did 8-10k steps a day, plus 3 swims a week . I'm down to 3k at the moment... Exercise is very good for mental health.
Picked my son up from Portsmouth University today - 510 mile round trip. Set of at 3.35am, back home within 10 hours. I hate this song - but we always sing it when we stop at Warwick Services, as we're halfway there. Actually, he's a half decent tune - although the epitome of '80s coiffeured naffness
So, last night's gig actually happened, which is good. The Ruts and Witchdoktors were great. The less said about General Saint, the better. But, **** me, it was LOUD. Ear splitting, mind bendingly loud. My ears are ****ed. NOT GOOD! NOT GOOD AT ALL!
I asked Roy Castle, he said it was... "Dadication, whoooaahhh, DADICATION" Yeah, I know...get me coat....and close the door on m'way out.
