A totally professional and clinical performance. The more I see of Richards the more I like. Undemonstrative, he gets on with things; making simple passes then almost always accurately shooting. The only gripe I have, and perhaps this isn't the time, is that often our goals are flashes of individual skill rather than teamwork. Hey, but great result.
Some of the best goals you will see. But I am still concerned that the team seem to rely too much on individual's skills and dont resort to the basics of passing the ball around. Basic teamwork was absent against Wimbledon on day one and still hasn't improved substantially since. Today the Gas were hacking the ball upfield even when down to 10 men, when there was plenty of space to play out of defence with good simple passes. The games a lot harder if you give the ball away too easily. But having said that it was a welcome win and avoids a lot of embarassment. Bear in mind the game was televised because of the potential pit fall. Next televised match must be at Crawley. Another potential banana skin.......
The pundits were impressed. Clinical, professional, a gulf in class. Do you normally watch some other sport, Lan_Lodger? We can be very proud, because we've got a great team in Bristol. Well done guys.
Just because it was 6-1 doesn't mean you can't be outplayed They had a few good spells and should have scored 3 atleast, but your finishing was very good, scoreline was a bit harsh on the opposition though
Well LAN, you can only beat what's in front of you, unlike - ahem - 82 yesterday. What did Shiny say? Very poor, I think it was!
No shame losing to a team 3rd in the league with quality players.. And considering we were on a 6 game unbeaten run before that game.. can you ever boast that ever? Doubt it.
People are forgetting that today we had a makeshift midfield plus injuries in defence, so I think to score 6 goals against any side with 8 first teamers out is bloody good going.
anyway, there is a banter thread for this sort of stuff. we win and your lot all over our threads. if we lost then i can see a reason. but to mock us over winning 6-1 against a team thats been put in front of us is a little daft if you ask me!
very true cjs if it was them then we would be hearing about for years to come, Totton are a team on the up and are 2nd in the southern prem having just came up last season, they seemed to be another Crawley in the making.
getting to round 2 in the fa cup and tv money, that will certainly benefit them in the near future financially to be able to be a new crawley.
