    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - MKM Stadium
    Date - 21 December 2024
    Kick off - 12:30pm

Following their 2-3 home defeat against Sunderland - where in the end they were well beaten - next up for Luke Williams’ Swansea squad is a trip to bottom of the table Hull City.

Last Saturday, Sunderland cut the gap to the Championship's automatic promotion places to just two points as they came back from 2-0 down to claim a thrilling 3-2 victory against the Swans.

The Black Cats were on course for only a second defeat since September after the Swans scored twice in the opening 17 minutes, through Zan Vipotnik's cushioned volley and a fantastic Liam Cullen free-kick.

But Dan Ballard's header halved the deficit before Sunderland took control in the second half.

Dan Neil's fabulous solo goal brought Regis le Bris' team level and, with the Swans seemingly bewildered, Jobe Bellingham swept home what proved to be the winner two minutes later.

This was just a second victory in nine matches for Sunderland, who climb a place to third in the table, while the Swans drop to 10th having seen their four-game unbeaten run came to an end in painful fashion.

Whilst the Swans were losing to Sunderland, Coventry had to come from behind against bottom club Hull City at the CBS Arena as Frank Lampard enjoyed his second win in four games as the new Sky Blues boss.

Hull, with their own new boss Ruben Selles in charge for only the second time, looked on course to build on their 1-1 home midweek draw with Watford when they led 1-0 against the run of play at half-time thanks to Joao Pedro's opener.

But Coventry turned it round as they levelled through Ephron Mason-Clark seven minutes after the restart and even had a Victor Torp penalty saved before Mason-Clark crossed for Jack Rudoni to head a 72nd-minute winner.

The Swans have played the Tigers on 84 previous occasions, winning 33, losing 31 and drawing 20.

In last season’s corresponding fixture, the Swans ran out 1-0 winners:

Turning to Saturday, I’m sure that the Swans will be desperate to prove a point after last week’s capitulation against Sunderland and return to winning ways.

That said, I’m equally sure that Hull will be desperate for a win to kick start their fight to climb away from the relegation zone.

On balance, I think that both sides will have to settle for a point apiece courtesy of a 1-1 draw. <cheers>

2-1 Hull, leading to 90mins and to concede two sloppy goals in injury time.

    Thanks Taff.
I can see us winning this one but I can also see us throwing away a 1-0 lead. So whilst my heart says we will win 2-1 my head says a hard fought 1-1.

    Thanks Taff.
Hull isnt a very happy hunting ground for us but as I am starting off at 4am on Saturday to get the game and I am feeling confident I will go for a 3-1 to the Swans. The team will perform for the few Swans fans at the game early start, Black Friday and not the most exciting of places to go although they have the Humber Bridge.
By the way Merry Christmas to one and all or am I supposed to say Happy Holidays doh!!!

Sam Parker and Josh Ginnelly were able to play a part in full training in the week, although they remain a few weeks away from a return to match action.

Kristian Pedersen is sidelined having undergone hamstring surgery, while Joe Allen and Ollie Cooper will also be missing for the Swans.

Thomas Bramall will be the man in the middle this afternoon (12.30pm kick-off).

The Sheffield-based official took charge of his first Championship match in March 2021 and was added to Select Group 2 the following summer.

He last took charge of the Swans during the 2022-23 campaign, overseeing their 1-0 defeat to Blackburn at Ewood Park.

Bramall has officiated eight matches so far this season, including two Premier League fixtures. The 34-year-old has handed out 30 yellow cards and one red card.

On Saturday, he will be joined by Marc Perry and Derek Eaton. Tom Nield will be the fourth official.

What a miss by Hull - ripped apart and the guy sliced his shot wide from the cross when unmarked right in front of Vigouroux…

Sounds like the usual game against one of the "bottom" sides then. Bet we're bossing possession though <doh>

Loads of feeds for the other two games, zero for the Swans. I'm watching Portsmouth v Coventry at the mo, seems like a bit of a ding dong.
