Just seen the full quote too. As below... For me it is disrespectful for this great club and our amazing fans to be talking about something that is not related to West Bromwich Albion. Sometimes I feel that if you cut [my comments] just to say 'I only focus on the game' and I don't talk about anything else - there can be speculation about this! I can only tell you that my full focus is to prepare the next game and I don't like that our fans or anyone else at this club can feel any type of disrespect with all of these rumours that can appear. I am clear on this, so I am going to speak about Bristol, about what we are going to do in the club, things that I can control. There are things I cannot control and I cannot talk about things I cannot control.
I don’t get it with Juric, I feel like we have been linked with him a few times over the years but his stats are distinctly average and that’s possibly being generous. He seems to have progressed to Roma without being a success anywhere except Crotone early on in his managerial career and he only lasted 12 games at Roma.
Mmmmm - not the most inspirational news. I know little of him and I know Italian club owners are a bit fickle but his stay at Roma was rather short!
Six month contract makes me feel better. Go and get Rohl in the summer. So we'll have gone from committed Christian, to Buddhist, to DEATH METAL MAN! 'Jurić is a self-described metalhead, with the passion for death metal music in particular. In the 2010 interview with the Italian edition of Rolling Stone, he cited Napalm Death, Obituary, Carcass, Death, Metallica, Megadeth, Ministry, Soundgarden, Soulfly as some of his favorite artists. He occasionally goes to rock and metal live shows.'
Seems like SR have gone with a bigger name manager to try and obtain survival. Can't fault them for that really. Did good work with Torino before his ill fated Roma spell. He had to do well in Serie A to get the Roma job in the first place.
Rather than create a whole new thread, I've just amended the title of this thread to keep all the new manager chat in one place.
Finished 9th and then 10th in his two seasons in Serie A with newly-promoted Hellas Verona. Quire impressive.
This. He's had success with clubs of a similar size to Saints. Has the same style as Ralph too so I'm on board with this.
In the terrible circumstances SR have gotten us into, I think this is probably the correct decision from them. Even though we are pretty much relegated, it is too early in the season to get someone in for next season. So a short term appointment is the lowest risk option and avoids the financial implications of sacking yet another manager. With Russ, we were 100% down and likely on record low points. With Juric, we have a very slim chance of survival, maybe just 5%, but it's a chance. Then if/when we go down we can reassess in the summer ahead of a promotion campaign. That will be the time to look at Rohl again.
