You see loads of Chinese and Indian Elvis impersonators as well. Same reason, singing other people's piss easy songs badly, and you don't have to do the musician bit.
I remember everybody at college going on about The Matrix when it came out. When I finally watched it I thought it was a pile of ****e.
The trilogy got worse as it went on but the first film was genuinely groundbreaking for its effects, choreography and fight scenes. It set a totally new benchmark for action films. The storyline wasn't incredibly original but was more than strong enough to carry some weakish acting (including Keanu Reeves who despite being a thoroughly nice bloke has the emotional range of a plank of wood).
There are folk now who think it was a documentary. People claiming they are unplugging from the matrix coz they've watched some chemtrail videos on yootoob
Is wetherspoons still popular? 20 years ago maybe, I dunno. Maybe I am too old now, but do people still go to wetherspoons alot?
