I sign in, have a browse, maybe post something then get called away for a short time. Maybe ten minutes, sometimes longer. When I come back I have to sign on again. Why such a short time before elapsing? Or am I doing something wrong? Help!

I'm no tech wizz kid but it does not do that for me. I have the site on my favourates and have ticked the keep me signed on box. Everytime I come onto my laptop and click the link I'm straight to my page and stay logged on until I turn off the laptop.

Yeah Sid thats probably the way to do it. I would think like most other web sites there will be a time out after a certain time of inactivity

It's to do with your settins for you're browser, and how it deletes history.

At work i'm logged in constantly, but at home i use firefox and tell it to delete all browsing history after each use, therefore the 'keep me signed in' command is deleted.

You can change these settings, (tools, internet options), and ask it to keep cookies from certain sites etc.

If you use Google Chrome it asks if you want it to remember your password, it's much faster than other browsers as well

I tried chrome, and i just couldn't get certain things to work.

It kept defaulting to igoogle as the search, i don't like the layout, so changed it to 'classic google', but everytime i logged off, back to igoogle.

So i edited igoogle, made it relevant to me, and was quite happy, but first time i turned it off, back to standard.

Gave up and back to firefox.

Try deleting browsing data, but it's never happened to me using XP, 7 or Ubuntu

Click on the spanner in the top right corner (not Chris), go to options, and it asks you for a homepage url. Just change that to whatever you want, and it should work.

The only other thing I can think of is reinstalling it, but that's wasted effort...

If you are closing your browser it will log you out.
If you leave the browser open in the background it shouldn't log you out.

BB, I use Chrome, but when I install it, I never let it add anything like addons or settings just the basic browser.
If Googles homepage doesn't load instantly I know I have connection problems :)
Then when it's up and running the only addon I allow is the popup blocker.
Also only certain sites I allow it to remember user name and password. Like NOT606 I just click in the boxes and it fills them in for me. <ok>
