MON decides that Richardson's best position is at LB and plays him there?

MON decides that Elmo is a good winger, and is in his starting 11?

He'll soon change his mind on Elmo, and admit to his error.

...I think the positions on the left are really critical . Whoever they decide will be the one popping up on the left Im looking forward to some quality play from that area. Cloughies teams all had great left sided players Hinton and Robertson...Even in todays super fit high pace teams quality really stands out when a winger goes down the line in his own time.Hopefully John Robertson will play a great role here.Look what he did for the current Manchester United winger in his time at A Villa . I cant see Richardson playing this role so youre probably right about where hes playing today. Im sure Bruce knew that too. He said something about having a "proper one" in his sights before he left I wouldnt be surprised if theres a classic winger on the left due to join us with Martin O`Neill just rubber stamping the move...

Richardson was looking good at left back before Brucie moved him into midfield again a few weeks back

As usual Commachio your spot on. Elmo will never make a good winger. not as long as he has a hole in his proverbial. Wingers need to know how to cross balls into dangerous areas, and sadly for us this seems a step to far for him.

    There's always one.

If he does then I guess we will just be typical footy fans and be two faced and say he's a genius. Lol

However, I trust his judgement more highly. We won't see the real Mon team for another two transfer windows anyway imo and that's the high price of changing managers mid season, a price I hasten to add that has been more than worth taking.

So if Mon judges elmo to be good enough, you wouldn't support his decision?

I'm just playing devils advocate here, but it will be interesting to see how's fans react if Mon comes to the same conclusions as Bruce did about certain players.

    What if Mon 1st team was;

    Westwood
    Bard, turner, brown, Rico
    Elmo, colback, vaughan, larsson
    Sess
    Bendtner
    ?

Why would Mon be stupid if he did come to that conclusion, afterall he will judge the players on what he sees in the training ground everyday, unlike us fans who judge players on 90mins only....

I agree Dan - in all honesty I don't think that Bruce had a hell of a lot of options anyways. Although I would hope that O'Shea plays regularly under O'Neill.

What if your thoughts are nothing more than an unsubstantiated hypothetical scenario and have no basis in reality? Bearing that in mind, why go to the lengths of posting these hypothetical concerns??

Why not? Its a quiet sunday, and I was pondering the different teams ONiel could have as his starting 11.

If you dont want to answer my questions, thats fine but I see no reason to criticise the thread. If you dont like it, dont bloody post on it <ok>

I did answer your question and I see every reason to criticise your thread. Why do you insist on dreaming up negative scenarios that have no basis in reality? Martin O'Neill will have to work with the squad that he has inherited until such point he is able to recruit the players he determines to be suitable.

If you believe Martin O'Neill will consider Elmo as being the best long-term selection for the right wing position then I suggest that your in for a pleasant surprise. Hopefully you are able to interpret the future as pleasant... You do like to see the dawn of a new beginning under a very highly esteemed manager as being a very positive situation, don't you?

Why don't you post something positive instead of negative? The time for posting negative has been and gone during the Bruce era.
