With the squad we have, got to be a Rohl type for me to give a fighting chance. With Corberan we'll just get relegated conceding and scoring less goals.
The alternative view on Corberan is that he is excellent at getting results out of a limited squad and maybe his football would be a bit better with better players. We have been calling out for some solidity and battling it out to grind away some points.
The ITK guy on the SW board says (and has been saying all along) that Rohl isn't interested (currently). His press conference today is 12:30 I believe, so that could be interesting and telling.
A source close to Rohl apparently cited a curse had been placed upon his offer of the role in the Not606 Saints board. Any ideas what that’s about, Tom
Not so sure. I think they may take the option of the Danish fella until end of the season and see what’s what.
You know you are doomed when managers are turning us down in favour of staying at Sheffield Wednesday. If that is true of course.
The flip side of this is what people would have said a few years ago that you are doomed if we hang our hopes on the Sheffield Weds manager.
Any prospective manager would have taken note of the second half when weighing up a move to St Mary's.
Seems we're not alone... https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/sheffield-wednesday-hamburg-southampton-eye-danny-rohl/
I don’t see why he would be. Potential play offs with Wednesday or near on guaranteed relegation? Unless the guy is a glutton for punishment there’s not much good in that. There’s easily a scenario where in 5 months he burns his goodwill with Wednesday and becomes a disastrous prem manager too, what a needless risk. And I don’t trust SR to make him an offer he can’t refuse. Honestly after the debacle with Selles I wouldn’t be surprised if we beat Fulham on Sunday and they give the U-21 the job till the end of the season, they’re just that short sighted. Selles only got the job because of 1 okay Chelsea performance.
He's working for Chansiri, who is a total lunatic and has underfunded that club for years, so there's plenty of reasons to get out of Sheff Wed. It likely does not get better for him at that place than it is right now. Whether he is excited by Saints is a very different matter
