Good Morning. It's Wednesday 18th December, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

The need for a new No 10 in January continues to bubble below the surface - Froston

Athletic reporter Nancy Froston has suggested that playmaker Brenden Aaronson could be the weak link within the Leeds set-up, indicating new blood is needed in the January transfer window.

Replacing Georginio Rutter was always going to be a tall order. Despite his five goals (and one assist) this season, the USA International's form is beginning to wane. Whilst the Frenchman's shooting ability could be described as Battyesque, his vision and forward thinking made him one of the most feared forwards in the Championship last season.

Leeds have been linked with the likes of James McAtee, Emiliano Buendía and Ben-Brereton Díaz (who now seems destined for Bramall Lane). These are definitely the kind of players that would improve the Leeds team, but with less than a fortnight until the transfer window opens, will the Elland Road hierarchy just paper over the cracks like they did last January?

"Leeds were rattled in the first half and rushed in attack, with chances spurned by Brenden Aaronson and Joel Piroe. Away from home, a state of chaos does not suit United and Preston did well to create enough of it — both through disciplinary wind-ups and their own share of chances on the counter.

"The need for a new No 10 in January continues to bubble below the surface; Aaronson’s decision-making and wastefulness in attack do not match the execution of his team-mates. A first-half chance sent high and wide from a good position looked like it would cost Leeds."

Blades plan to exploit loan market with 3 players already lined up

Sheffield Utd are causing quite a stir on social media platform 'X' with strong speculation linking them with a host of top flight players ahead of the January transfer window.

Norwich veteran striker Ashley Barnes, along with Southampton duo James Bree and Ben-Brereton Díaz are hotly tipped to join the Blades in January, with Chris Wilder keen to add both depth and experience, to bolster his squad during the second half of the Championship season.

They have been shrewd in their approach to the loan market, already bringing in Harry Soutter, Alfie Gilchrist and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi. They plan to take full advantage of the loan market, even though they'll only be able to field a maximum of five loanee's on any given matchday.

Boro jump the queue in hopes of signing Barry

Middlesbrough are emerging as frontrunners in the race to secure the services of Louie Barry from Aston Villa, after tearing up league One this season.

The versatile 21yo has already netted 14 goals from 20 starts for Stockport County this season, yet it's has been difficult to identify his best position, having played in five different areas of the pitch so far.

Leeds, along with Sheffield Utd and Wednesday have all been monitoring his progress, but with Emmanuel Latte Lath being hotly tipped to complete a £20m move to Ipswich next month, Middlesbrough have jumped the queue!

    Morning all,

We probably won’t be signing anyone in January.

If that’s the case I think Rothwell would be great at 10. He has all the attributes.

Ampadu to slot in alongside Tanaka.

Morning all. Blunts favourites to win. division. They'd have been in a strong position but for their points deduction. Bit worrying considering how dire they were last season. Oh and breaking news from the Eire sports desk, were chasing same player as last few January windows, the Chinese lad No One. Great to see Kammy back broadcasting over the xmas. Been badly missed

    Morning all

Ipswich must have spent all their budget in preseason unless they are selling Delap, signing anyone from a rival team in this division would be a bonus for us. It made me smile the other day as Ipswich were linked with the one and only Ryan Kent

Get your money on then Kev <cheers>. The blunts have been damn lucky so far in my opinion but better to be lucky than good.

Don't want to disappoint Milky but we were favourites at points of last season, up until close to the end. Only means there are a load of fools putting their hard earned cash on us

Oh it means nothing mate for sure, and i understand the impact of betting volumes on odds. They also base it on stats though, and the reason why so many people believe we're the best team in the division is that we top every stat... well apart form the most important one. <laugh>

We could very well not get promoted this season. We topped all the stats in the first bielsa season and we should have gone up last season. Quite easily on both occasions as it goes. I'm not counting any chickens.

Not sure about that but if you're into your music, there's an excellent record shop there, Shabby records on Strandgata. Not seen so much vinyl in a store for years.

Edit, just had a Google the 2 premises are a 1 minute walk apart.

I think this season is going to be at least as tough as last season. We rarely over perform, we are more likely to huff and puff and just come up short. For such a great forward line how many teams have we put to the sword?
This year I see Sheff Utd, Burnley and Sunderland hanging about until the end. I think Blackburn are very impressive under Eustace, he would have been a good choice for us imo, I think we could also see Watford spoiling the party. Then you have Boro, WBA and maybe even Norwich could put a run together.
We need top two but we never seem to be able to make it that easy.
    I'm worried.

Everyone raves about Emanuel Latte Lath with 8 goals and possibly off to Atlanta, West Ham or Ipswich in January. Piroe on the other hand is no good with his 7 goals just one less
