I will lob one Xmas song in there that is actually brilliant. And that is Vince Guaraldi ‘Christmas time is here’

Vince Guraldi wrote loads of that background jazz in Charlie Brown and Peanuts. And this song was written for a 1965 TV special Charlie Brown at Christmas

As much as I think The Beatles are hugely overrated, Paul McCartney after that was even worse now I’ve got that Xmas song in my head.

Shane MacGowan, swaggering gobshite, poetic genius, writer of the greatest Christmas song there ever was or ever will be. R.I.P. the last of the great Irish outlaw drunks…

I haven’t touched a drop for 22 years but there’s a Guinness in heaven with my name on it, and when I get there I’ll raise it to Shane.

That's correct I went and found stuff that was listenable and it seemed to follow a theme that was all the 50's stuff I mentioned.

There was a 40 year docu on BBC last weekend about Last Christmas, and then Wham!

Yeah, it's sentimental schmaltz, but that man was a ****ing genius.

Can't believe he's dead, even now. Christmas day too ffs.

I've got a Dean Martin Christmas CD, Making Spirits Bright.

Very nice with the fire going and a glass in hand.

It does get overlooked in favour of some Spotify bollocks playlist being blared out from the kitchen though.

And Michael Bubble, that **** hijacked Christmas for his own profit.

Not my cup of tea musically - but I can appreciate his talent - and seems like he was a genuinely 'good guy' from the documentaries, including one with the Kemps for whom he was godfather to their son Roman ...

One of a list of musical geniuses that lived and died in my lifetime, including - Bowie, Prince and Freddie Mercury - although my personal musical preference would lean to the other 3 before George...

Same, but those three, along with Michael Jackson, are pretty much the creme de la creme of musical genius. Thats a pretty high bar that very few achieve.
I liked George Michael, he wasnt quite at that level, but he was only a notch or two below.

I liked George Michael, not Wham so much, but I'm like that with a few groups, the individuals tend to stand out more than the band mates to me. Bowie and Mercury would be in my top list. Prince also borught something different to music.

Can't be doing all the Christmas song bollocks though.
