Real and Barca are desperate for the money. They both have debts of over £1bn and rising and have both sold large chunks of their future commercial and TV. income.
This there isn't enough money in Spanish football to get them out if the **** they are in! Especially considering they already had most of it! They will jump at the chance of more money!
Exactly. The whole point of the Super League is so they can dig themselves out of the financial holes they've created for themselves. All of the stuff about promotion/relegation, clubs keeping all of the profits and so on is just a smokescreen. The proposed format is designed to keep the current "big" clubs at the top of the tree. This is the only way Madrid and Barcelona can keep themselves from slipping off their perches domestically and in Europe, which would actually be the better thing for football.

When do they intend playing the matches if this goes ahead? Managers/players are already talking/moaning about the number of games played, especially for international players with all the extra international games they keep finding to play?
The size of squads will have to change as well to cope, so with the extra money they get they will buy another 10+ players from other teams ( their best players) and carry on raping the rest of football. I still say kick them out now.
Once they free themselves from FIFA/UEFA “tyranny” they can rewrite the rules to have different sets of first team players dedicated to every competition or league they’re signed up for. An under-21 team, a Premier League team, a European Super League team, a PIF World Series Team etc etc They already have the numbers - under Abramovitch, Chelsea regularly had 30-40 players knocking around on loan in addition to players they had in their first team
Sounds more like another one you qualify in and out of. Dont know how that will fit. If we lose the top teams to it, for a full season or more, I think the game in this country will be worse off personally. Must not be allowed to happen.
