I guess it goes to show that whatever laws you lay down, people will always find a way to indulge their vices. During my time in Morocco, most of the lads who surf and like a smoke also liked a drink now and again. They'd take me to these back alley off licences to get beer and wine for them, because as a westerner I could buy it. Same in the supermarkets. There's a separate cashier for westerners and non muslims to buy booze. Morocco is a fairly laid back country in a lot of respects, but in Mauritania, there was a strict no alcohol rule even taking any across the border is illegal.

5 guns for every 4 people- it's just crazy... and then when you also consider that two thirds of adults have 0 guns and it's just one third of the population that is stockpiling weapons , it just makes that statistic even crazier. Lots of guns in Canada too- but school shootings are much rarer there.
