Theoretically we don’t need to sell this summer as the big sales of Greaves and Philogene should see us over another window. That is providing we’ve not massively overspent on wages even further than anticipated.
That's for FFP cycle right, I am more talking about cash flow, we are very likely depend on owner injected money next year to cover day-to-day costs of club.
There's really not much in the way of crown jewels left if the wage bill is anywhere near as big... Who have we got that would see Clubs clambering over each other to bid for?
I think we have a lot of players with a ton of potential but, at this point, that’s all it is. We aren’t going to sign a whole new starting XI in January and we need to have a cracking second half of the season under Sellés to avoid going down. If we stay up it means some of them will have really stepped up and done enough to get themselves in the shop window. I’m sure there’ll be a few takers at that point. Our survival is a win-win as it does a lot for the players on an individual level as well as for Hull City as a club. Thinking positively, I feel we’d have a really good foundation for League One if Sellés gets a tune out of the players but fails to keep us up.
Lots of players with potential. Such a common comment nowadays when describing why we need to give them time. I am in my 30’s this team is fooking ****e I don’t see anything glad you do.
The players have had enough time. They need to step up and show what they can do now, no excuses. It’s the same with excuses for results. We can keep thinking a draw is good enough this week because it’s better than losing and a sign of progress, but our current position and situation requires this team to start winning games regularly. Very soon, a win here and there won’t be enough. I’ve got a good feeling about Sellés and he doesn’t seem naive about our position like Walter was. He’s also at an important point in his career where he’ll want to prove his worth, so I don’t think he would have risked taking the job if he felt doing so compromised his future employment opportunities. He seems genuinely confident he can get the best out of the bunch.
I think Hughes will be our next 8 figure sale. He’s not looking it now but he should come good. Belloumi prior to the injury looked every bit a player capable playing at a higher level as well
We will never progress if we adopt that approach,we need to build a team, not dismantle it every time we get a decent one...
It's the exact model we need to be sustainable. The problem is we've too much turnover over the last couple of years whereas, ideally, we'd only let 1 or 2 first teamers leave each season (for big bucks!)
Who the **** is on close to 30k a week in our current squad, because I haven't seen any player worth paying anything like that.
Problem is we have a lot of loan players that leaves end of season, a lot of high wage old players that we need to get rid of, plus sending 2 promising players ends up changing entire team. So actually 1 or 2 players sold above 10M, is good for sustainability, problem is prior part of my sentence.
Let's say that Belloumi worth 10-15M, usually the max amount for our players on market, ACL means it is max 5-10 range right now and next summer window he won't even make that money due to missing season. Only in when he turned 24, if he performs very good level but every buyer will think about his past.
So a no 10 who hasn't scored and doesn't create much and a left back who can't defend and if rumours are to believed doesn't even want to be here. Well ran club my arse.
Every side in the league without parachute payments has to adopt that model. Middlesboro had a similar reset two summers ago but are starting to look strong now.
I entirely agree. The silver lining of the poor run this year is that likely we get another year with certain players. Sadly FFP as it is means big assets are always on the chopping block
