Was doomed the second he said his style of play and approach wouldn’t change regardless of results. You just don’t have the players to play the way he wanted in this league. Usually feel a bit sorry for managers who bring a team up and then get sacked but he brought it on himself.

We didn't get to the final on the basis of one moment or one game we got there over a period of time playing a number of matches that went our way. Luck is defined as 'Good things that happen by chance' If you think that does not play a part in football then you must live in a parallel universe.
I think some are grossly overstating the role of luck in the game. True, it can temporarily skew things like xg and individual results, but in the long run only one thing counts and that is quality. This imo is why Leicester couldn't repeat their title win. They were very good that season but ultimately benefitted from the 'lucky' coincidence that every single big club had a terrible year that season. So they won the league with an unusually low points tally and the following season their relative lack of genuine quality was exposed. It's why I've never understood when fans call a defeat 'unlucky' when we hit the woodwork multiple times but fail to score. No, what this means is that we need to improve our shooting accuracy. Harry Kane rarely hits the post not because he is 'lucky' but because he famously stayed back after every training session to spend time burying it in the bottom corner. Lucky/unlucky is something that is genuinely essentially out of anyone's control to mitigate. Like a dodgy lasagne ahead of a crunch fixture. That is unlucky. But if the proper pre-checks and standards weren't kept to, it switches from unlucky to needing better policies.
Well, thanks to me (being in absentia ) we reflect on a crushing win after weeks of turmoil. Admittedly against arguably the worst PL team in living memory. Anyway... Only caught the highlights (which can be deceptive) but Djed looked very impressive and surely must get some starts. Not only to rest the overworked Porro, but I think playing the Spaniard further forward with Spence working with him could be impactful. A great combination. The latter is faster and seems to have better defensive capabilities. Particularly in games where we need better cover that would seem to provide a good option?
Saints were dire but still could have scored a couple of goals if they could finish, Spence was superb which makes his lack of game time even more bizarre. A welcome 3 points, albeit against awful opposition. We`ll probably lose the next two games, which will be classic Spurs. It was lovely to hear the away fans ripping into Levy also, these are the hard core genuine fans, there are not many tourists and happy clappers travelling to away games among these fans, so you get a true reflection of the mood of Spurs supporters.

Yeah we got there because we played better than the majority of our opponents. Same as how Pochettino achieved three top three finishes in a row. None of that is luck, it comes down to hard work and having the talent to achieve it. Saying it was luck diminishes all that work he and the players put in. I live in the universe of reality and common sense, a shame you don’t.
Someone on Twitter mentioned how usually when there are occasional Levy Out chants, if Spurs take the lead those chants die out which is probably true. However there were about 5-6 separate Levy Out chants throughout the game last night, plus the constant chant involving Kulu as well (very catchy!). It’s probably the first time I can remember that happening, especially in such a good performance where we’ve annihilated the opposition. Will be interesting to see how the home crowd are on Thursday.
You are just not reading my posts. I am not saying the acheivments were lucky I am replying to your post which said that luck played no part in football. There are elements of luck and chance in most, if not all, human activities to suggest otherwise is just not how the real world works. My example was Spurs reaching the CL final. I am not picking out individuals or particular events in that achievment but I do not believe that Spurs were at the time the 2 nd finest team in Europe 2nd only to Liverpool. Therefore it required an element of luck to get there. Whether that is the draw, or the ball falling in a certain way, a player not getting injured, otherwise you have to believe that cup competitions always have the best two teams in the final. Surely you don't believe that.?
I said luck barely plays a role in football, if at all. There might be extreme circumstances that involve luck; a dodgy VAR call that isn’t conclusive, a player slipping over at a crucial moment etc but in terms of results and progress in competitions, especially over a sustained period, to be saying Spurs were lucky to make the champions league final is so incredibly harsh. Vertonghen's heroics at Wembley vs Dortmund, Son’s heroics home and away against City, Moura’s heroics in Amsterdam were all down to their hard work, brilliance and deserves all the praise in the world, not to be told they were lucky just because Spurs weren’t the second best team on paper.
