Yesterday the margins went our way, had a very similar feel to the Bournemouth game, where we were relatively comfortable until about 70th minute and then it looked like only 1 team would win it. Fair play to the team for keeping going and coming back into it the last few minutes. For me yesterday confirmed a lot of things we already know. I liked the balance of the forward positions. Chaplin again great in the 10, and special shout out to Burns who looked a lot more like his old self...that's partly down to Chaplin for actually playing him in and making the most of his runs. For me Hutchinson in that position holds onto the ball often for too long...he does some really good things but also has a tendancy to take too many touches. And what the hell has happened to Burgess, he just looks brilliant at the moment, fair play both him and Chaplin looked to have raised their game. Still have some major question marks about Clarke who positionally can be all over the place and Muric who should rightly be questioned for the goal even if there is a slight deflection.
A massive 3 pts, the Gaffer heard all your shouts of joy! What a Houdini act, we won at the last gasp! Such drama, and the theatricals and frustrations at the end were disgraceful. The Wolves pack in disarray and look doomed. More players booked, and was Delap too? I hope not tho he coukd do wirh a rest. We looked confident 1st half and could have scored more. Hutch needs a word from KM. Such a talent but he must distribute quicker than try to beat everybody. Our right side was predictably weaker. Enough said about Burns, altho better today, and Clarke. Chappers, Taylor, bully boy Delap, Cajouste, what a player he is becoming and the Burgess O'Shea partnership, all stood out in a fine performance. That said, Wolves left their shooting boots at home. We were poor for periods in 2nd half but kept our composure more or less. Even tho I would like to see more consistancy than errors, today Muric did ok. I for one am off his back. What's more the goal looks like a deflection off Clarke. And he had to cope with a barrage of crosses and shots in that final 15 minutes. He claimed lots of crosses, corners & high balls. And he calmly passed it to Burgess or Taylor. As for that memorable goal, KM says "It’s our fifth player now who has scored in every division in English football!" Amazing. MOM for me has to be Cam, a rock in our defense and so vocal too, a real leader. We have given ourselves a good chance of staying up, get something from next 3 tough games and open the chequebook in January! Our away fans were deliriously happy!
Just watching gary o Neil's interview. Talks about Delap several times. Not sure if there is some history between them ?
I just watched it. No they didn’t. The caption at the end of the game on MOTD says no too. TWTD and the New York Times are the only sources I can find.
https://www.premierleague.com/match/115986 There’s no sign of a booking for Delap on the Premier League site, but the Ait-Nouri card is there.
Scroll down 'all cards' Hampy, Delap gets a yellow so will miss next game. Probably involved in the tunnel fracas.
Watched the highlights with my ‘calmer” head on and 1 thing that struck me - as it has for the last 2 seasons is that H. Clarke’s positional sense is not very good (putting it as politely as I can). Only way I think he can way is if we play Johnson in front of him to provide more defensive cover. If you go into the line up part of the game on the bbc website, it does show Delap has a yellow card so he misses the Newcastle game. Not great but at least it gives him a rest
Agree Royston, RB remains a difficult position for us. So many teams know this, and once Axel was away, they attack down our right.
I can't be bothered to argue with you, but on BBC match of the day one of the pundits says " to clarify Delap and the Wolves player were both booked. It is 31 minutes into match of the day. I have been out all day, just seen your usual abrupt comment and have just scrolled forward via I player, and lo and behold he does say it !
So he does. It’s a mumbled badly formed phrase, “this is where they both got booking” so I didn’t pick it up. You can get arsey if you like, there’s a lot of misinformation out there and it was missing from reliable sources, including MOTD’s own caption.
And another Prem manager goes. Gotta feel sorry for Russell Martin, ruthless game footie. Club and manager unable to adjust to the Prem. Someone's gotta be bottom of the league. Thank goodness its not us.
I can’t figure out if this is good for this (all around us in disarray whilst we keep our heads) or bad for us (they have taken action to change things and we will take none).
