Knowing what these journos are like, the reporter probably asked Tonali if he'd like to go back to Italy for Christmas to see his family and Sandro said "of course". So they creat a transfer story out of it.

Some of the journalistic horse **** is laughable.

 

Can you imagine if we'd managed to get Olise (we met the asking price), signed Marmadashvili for barely £10m than we bid for Trafford and then managed to actually push through on the £25m or so for Malick Thiaw?

That could've been Newcastle's Summer. Wonder where we'd be right now?

Thiaw is a head scratcher. Had him lined up, nearly over the line and then just completely dissipated after the Guehi bids started…

 

A lot of questions need to be asked. A lot of answers are about to come after this January transfer window.

I can’t believe we would be under FFP pressure after the last two windows.

So if they say that then something is wrong.

 

It’s the fact we seem to end every, single window 2/3 players short. How do we manage that, given we have months and months of runway to prepare? Even with restrictions we should be getting bodies in and, critically, deadwood out.

I think the dynamic has been addressed with Mitchell, and I think Howe didn’t like it hence the summer toys/pram episode, but I am optimistic we can move forward properly from January.

 

Apparently Thiaw just simply didn't want the move. I think he would have been a good signing

 

Same with Olise. Almost as if we’re not very good.
