Is this to replace the 6 second rule that is never enforced ? https://www.thetimes.com/article/cc...4?shareToken=ab63f5d1e89272d4aa7bfa19471112c5
Like many rules, the six second one was always applied inconsistently by referees - it still applies but no-one enforces it now because opposition players can easily counter it. Can't remember when it came in, but before it was introduced there was a four step rule - which was the bane of my life as a goalkeeper. The minute you got the ball in your hands and started moving, opposition players just had to block your path, forcing you to throw it over their heads or take more than four steps. Referees eventually stopped enforcing it because it was really unenforceable. Interesting that that article also covers a proposed offside rule change - going back to the old days when clear daylight had to be seen between attacker & defender. None of those offside by a toenail decisions...
I wonder how he keeps up with play - I'll bet there are a few dodgy offside decisions in every game... Years ago in our Queensland local league, there was a rather portly 60+ year-old referee who used to officiate at least three lower league matches every Sunday (nice little earner really - $10 per match). Once he blew the whistle to start a match, he'd waddle into the centre circle and stay in it until half time, then repeat that for the second half. To give him his due, he rarely made a wrong decision. Oddly enough, his name was one thing he couldn't do - Trott.
Certainly get good value at Brentford - must be an average of 5 goals per games. On a sadder note seems Michail Antonio has been involved in a car crash and pictures of the alleged incident don't make for nice veiwing. Hopefully all is ok.
West Ham say striker Michail Antonio is in a stable condition and "conscious and communicating" after a road traffic accident. In a statement, West Ham said Antonio is "currently under close supervision at a central London hospital". The Premier League club added: "At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family. "The club will make no further comment this evening, but will issue a further update in due course."
Oh dear . What a waste of time and money for Man U. https://x.com/lauriewhitwell/status/1865682760477892715
Was like the DoF at Brighton and Newcastle. Bit like Nani is and Managa was here for a brief period . No doubt someone else who will get a nice pay of at the expense of staff who had been there for decades or fans having to pay more for their tickets.
Might have been difficult to cover this one up. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c983y2ylev5o
A very odd move . Obviously something has gone on behind the scenes ? I know he had a go at some fans after their game on Saturday but still was doing an excellent job . https://x.com/MillwallFC/status/1866465387925156205
A bit later tonight is the first leg of the Liga MX final. It's a god-awful system. IF you want to know why, breathe deeply and FOCUS: The league table finished like this - Posiciones de la Liga MX Then 1 to 6 qualify for the final knock out stage. 7 - 10 play in knock outs too they call it the play-in round. It's disgusting, The 9th place team hosts the 10th place team in an elimination game. The 7th hosts the 8th place team in the double-chance game, with the winner advancing as the 7-seed. The loser of this game then hosts the winner of the elimination game between the 9th and 10th place teams to determine the 8-seed. (Vomit and shakes head, it is based on basketball, supposedly) Then the knockout continues to the final and eventual winner. Higher up int he league means home advantage in the knockout stages (I.E: second leg at home.) 2024–25 Liga MX season - Wikipedia RIGHT, in basic terms today's final (first leg) is 5th v 8th from the qualifying league. GO figure, give me a full league and crown the winners, here it is just squeezing as much dough from the system as possible. Two "leagues" a year, leading to knockouts and an eventual winner. The next "season" to determine the qualifying positions for the knockouts are reversed, if you played them at home last (half) season, it'll be away next "season." Hence 18 teams and two "seasons" a year of 17 games. So, I am not too fussed about football here, but go to see a game now and again. And since 2020 have not checked the "rules" of the system as they change every "season" to suit the founders (Corrupt owners) of the league!! I need a PH fing D to explain this to my Mrs. She just looked at me and said enjoy the final I'll watch my telenovela! Second leg is on Sunday and also on FAWA if anyone wants or cares for more info please let me know, clear as mud I know!! (Final EDIT) America (Mexico City) v Monterrey (Same City as team name) Is a big game here and like City v Arsenal. ahhaah, if anyone has made it to the end of this post, CONGRATULATIONS! Mexican football is a bit strange!!
And, didn't know, the 1st leg of the final is in Puebla, as America are having their stadium (The Azteca) done up for the world cup!
Same score, but the away leg to come. Been watching it on my laptop on my patio eating mango. Long way off Watford tbh. but all good here.
