Jenrick: Deport all foreign criminals and scrap visas for countries that refuse In a government with a star-studded array of total incompetents, it is like shooting fish in a barrel picking on them. The Justice Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, is a prime example. Prisons are overcrowded and current estimates are that there will be no space left in less than three years. Mahmood’s solution appears to be to create 14,000 new spaces by 2031. That is not a solution to a problem that is already here. Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick suggested to Sky News that it might be an idea to simply deport all foreign criminals back to their country of origin. If that country refuses to take them then deny visa applications to that country’s citizens and stop all foreign aid to that country. That would clear twelve per cent of our prison population immediately. Countries that refused to play ball would not be able to send prospective future criminals here as they would have no visas and be turned away. Why did he not do this when in office? Of course, Mahmood and Sir Keith Stalin do not want these potential Labour voters thrown out, especially since so many of them are from ideologically favoured backgrounds. According to the Howard League for Penal Reform some of the most overcrowded prisons in the UK happen to be in Leicester, Doncaster, Swansea, Durham and Leeds.
