I'd suggest the best football we have played as a team this season has been with Mayenda up front.

He reminds me a lot of Ross Stewart in stature and his all-round game. There's no coincidence that specific type of CF works for us. I think we defo like a mobile CF hence the strikers we have but what helps Isidor more than the others is his height and hold-up play to match, I'd like us to be looking for someone who has the height and is also mobile as that seems to be the type that works

Pressing wise 100%, but I'd sacrifice a bit of quality pressing-wise for the quality Isidor brings up top. Isidor is better in every single other attribute bar pressing but he can still press to a good standard also. I'm not arsed about my striker being a pressing machine, they need to be able to be a goal threat and have the right movements and instincts. Mayenda doesn't have that yet and his profile and size etc doesn't give us that long ball option either where Isidor has benefitted from a good few times.

Obviously, if he couldn't press at all that would be a big problem as we need it, but he can, not as well as Mayenda but the rest of Isidor's abilities is what makes him edge it as those are what you need from a CF.

Wouldn't argue against Isidor being the better all round player, but I haven't seen us play nearly as well as a team with him up front as we did with Mayenda up front.

And on our early season form versus now, I think a huge part of it is that we were a completely unknown quantity at the start of the season. Initially nobody knew what to expect, and then what they DID know what to expect, nobody knew how to stop it, because nobody had.

Once teams worked out how to nullify us, our form has dropped off. This was always going to happen and is why I tried not to get carried away at the start.

Its now up to us to find a way to surprise teams again.

I think a lot of that is to do with @Southern A 's recent comment. It was the start of the season, we had a new style and people didn't know what to expect, they caught on around the Plymouth game, which Mayenda actually started so I think we were heading this way anyway. Isidor has rose to being our top scorer so it could have maybe been worse if we didn't have someone of Isidor's capability to score the goals he has. 3 of his goals have been from quality movement which Mayenda hasn't shown yet (which is fine he's only 19).

I also think Mayenda looks far more comfortable on the wing from the glimpses we have seen

All very fair! I would love to see Mayenda as a long term candidate for that right wing spot. Roberts needs the competition.

Isidor is better than Mayenda up top like but the amount of crosses put into dangerous areas on Saturday that he was nowhere near was frustrating. He should be gambling on them and running toward goal expecting the ball to be flashed across. I don’t think signing another striker in January that could go straight into the first team and rotate with him would be a bad idea, I just don’t hope people are thinking he’s irreplaceable already because he’s scored a few great goals. Don’t think they necessarily have to be a carbon copy for Isidor because we don’t tend to press with the same intensity every week, some weeks we’re more than happy on the ball and create loads of chances that a poacher could take advantage of. Having him and another to choose from or to throw on together if we’re chasing a game would be brilliant.

Yeah I agree, he wasn't at it on Saturday, it's mad because I think for weeks he's been starved of some decent service and the time we give him a boat load he was having an off day haha. I agree i'd like us to sign another CF I just think we should keep the profile similar to Isidor as his style works great for us. I think Connolly is the poacher type already so i'd like to see him more involved at times.

I wonder if Abdullahi is going to impress RLB when he is back, he was described by Speakman as a "out and out number 9" which is crazy to see him say since he loves "versatility" <laugh>

I'm very intrigued to see the type of striker he is!

Agree there. I haven’t really been impressed with us in recent weeks but Saturday was a lot better. I want to see more intensity tomorrow night, though. Think we’re far too predictable at times

Our attack ( especially its goal threat ) has been unbalanced for two seasons and still is imo.

I honestly think Mundle's absence is the issue because you could argue that "balanced" is exactly what it is right now.

I could sympathise with you there as he can blow hot/cold tbh. You must have watched him at the wrong times.

I think you’ve got to have a bit of something about you to score the overhead kick he did against Everton but you aren’t far wrong with the overrated. At times he looks electric but I’d say probably since the turn of the year or so he’s been really poor at times in the final third. Still only 20 I suppose

I think Roberts constant presence is the issue. I enjoy reading the statistics but cant fully understand them to be honest.
And based my statement on games played and goals scored from our wide men up front, which I guess overwhelmingly favours the left over the right for over the last 2 seasons, and the ever present culprit is Patrick Roberts who has been so poor since the departure of Amad ,..

Wouldn't be surprised they’ve a good track record with villa loanees in recent seasons. Burgzorg been poor so far this season. I’m surprised Azaz hasn’t been moved left to play Conway as the 10 and Latte Lath as the 9 more often.

Apparently… (I know). We are watching what is happening with Édouard. Palace forward who went to loan at Leicester but it hasn’t worked out. He’s French, 6’2. Needs to get his career back on track. I think he’d be a monster in this division (If true)

Loved him for Celtic, honestly thought he would be class in England. Had a bit of everything at Celtic, and was a joy to watch at time

Def the type of loan signing I'd like us to make
