The league is such low quality if we scrape 2 wins we could be comfortably mid table. Over half the games left, of course relegation is still possible, but **** me, we were 7th after NYD under McCann and finished bottom, we can easily turn this around, 27 games left with a transfer window ffs. Doom and gloom
But all of these were under one manager so signalled a trend. Yesterday was under a caretaker manager so didn’t, xG isn’t perfect but it can indicate trends over multiple games. As is - we can’t really use it for trends under Dawson especially when his tenure is now over.
Poor recruitment has hurt us a lot more then the poor coach choice imo.... Add them both together through and it's the perfect storm
I guess we'll never know, unless Walter gives his version of events or someone who knows him does. It never made sense why City employed a German manager who had never managed in the UK, but the club didn't sign or bring any players that he was acquainted with. Be interesting to know if he had zero input on signings or if there were no players that wanted to come. Telling that the club didn't ask for support for him until he'd had a complete transfer window. Also didn't help that his relationship with the media was bad from almost the off, so he didn't really get to explain what he needed or wanted. All we can judge him on at the moment is what happened on the pitch.. because there's nothing else.
This always seems to happen with stats. Someone else brought xG up to say ours was low, I responded to point out it was actually double Blackburn's, and then a third person comes in to smash home the tap in of "stats don't matter, its the scoreline that counts" as if it was me making a point about xG and then people decorate that post with likes. I get told off for being patronising on here at times but **** me it's hard not to be when the conversation is as moronic as that.
And yet a lot of us saying as much in August were told to be patient. FWIW I think sacking Rosenior was the wrong decision but that’s another argument. The combo of changing manager, losing 90% of your goals and 15 players. Selling your two best assets early and not using that cash quick and then as you mention get unfit free agents really gave Tim no hope. It falls on Acun for being asleep at the wheel. I would hope that having Dublin in proper place means this doesn’t happen again but we have to wait and see.
As HT2 eludes... a combo of a method that was totally inflexible in its application to suit what was in front of you... the likelihood of, 'we bought you another player'.. and perhaps some skullduggery in that department leads us to where we are now..
Exactly. Brady's point about continuously blaming luck and one-off events pointing to a theme would make sense if we had a long period of games to go on. It made sense for game after game of the same thing happening under Walter. But post Walter we've had two games, played well and not got anything yet. It's like saying we're down after losing the first two games of a season.
Your point is relying on our players suddenly changing massively Theyve already had 19 games Why do you think we will start scoring regularly? I hope we do
Yes because the conductor has been telling them to miss guilt edge chances almost every game, sometimes multiple times a game. The conductor has also been telling them to give away silly goals weekly due to individual errors..... We can't keep blaming Walter, he was the wrong coach, but under him we created in most game enough chances to as a minimum draw and in a lot of cases win. It was the players who let us and ultimately him down. The same goes with the suicidal defensive mistakes individuals seem to make each game. Walter has gone, but unfortunately the same below standard players who missed those chances and made those mistakes game after game are still here. Hopefully our new guy has a magic wand and all the above stops happening.......but I'm not convinced. Roll on January
These players have already thrown one manager under the bus. Don’t be surprised if they do the same to Sellés. The way supporters treat the players as poor misguided lambs is pathetic at times.
Only ones fronting it up are Hughes and Palmer, rest can get ****ed. Some of the senior players are just absolutely Nikes off it
Hughes, Palmer and Pandur are the only ones currently earning their salary. Simons has done okay and Millar and Belloumi were good before their injuries. Everyone else can get ****ed, as @NewcastleTiger said.
