Any team that doesn’t have 20 points by Christmas is a severe relegation candidate. We could easily be stuck around 18 unless there is a change under Selles. However we have the January window to get a couple of decent larkers in. We need a nasty twat to pick up the players on the pitch. Oh for an Ash eh !
It's a very good post Ernie, but for one thing(IMO). I don't think we were 'shocking' yesterday. We were beaten by a streetwise outfit? Each and every one of them gave 100%,each and everyone of them fought for their team-mates and their cause, and if truth be told, not one of them left anything out there. They ran themselves into the ground. That to me is the difference between us and teams beating us?We've been landed with some out and out cart-horses! I don't know how the new lad is prepared to approach this but surely he needs to adopt a shoot on sight policy(yesterday sort of hinted at that). We've got 5 games before the New Year and 2 immediately afterwards, games where we simply cannot afford to trudge along picking up the odd point? We're better off going out and out 'Gung Ho' until the transfer window, give Acun his 'heart attack football' and at least try and put the opposition under pressure and get them thinking. The transfer window is a different matter, who are all these players clamouring to come and scrap in a relegation battle? This window to me is our biggest concern...
I sincerely hope your right on the the 'this team can be saved from the drop' bit. But you know what I mean!!! Expecting the bloke to turn this $hitshow around will take a gigantic effort...We haven't got the bodies in the building to do it....The preseason recruitment campaign so to that. If he does succeed I'll be the first to sing the blokes praises and congratulate him. I hope I'm doing that in May.
On a more positive note, can anyone remember what forest did when they got a new manager when rock bottom? Was it Cooper who took them from bottom to the play offs (I think) in half a season. We're not down yet, cheer up ya miserable ****ers.
I think people are getting way over the top about how terrible our prospects are. Yes, we're bottom right now. We're very unlikely to stay there though. Our squad is mid table at worst, but we're playing catch-up because of the useless Walter and the ridiculous time it took Acun to act on him. If we'd sacked him after Oxford we'd already be on our way up the table by now. We're not bottom because of the quality of the squad or because of the performances under Selles or Dawson. The last two performances have been good, against good sides. Yesterday was more like a Rosenior game than anything we've seen this season - we totally controlled the game, gave them next to nothing, didn't create loads of clear cut chances but did far more to deserve a goal than the opposition did, yet somehow they snuck ahead with a goal out of absolutely nowhere and then were able to dig in and defend. Feels like we've conceded that first half goal against the run of play so many times at home in the last couple of years, and then at the end of the game wondered how the hell we lost. The Walter malaise has gone, we're not going to see performances like the Sheff Wednesday one any more, even if for the time being we probably will continue to have this longer term issue of inexplicably being unable to create or score enough at home which has plagued us for years now, regardless of personnel or money spent. But we'll climb the table no problem with performances like yesterday's. Forget the emotions and look at it objectively and it was a spirited, dominant performance from a team who've had absolutely nothing go their way this season, including the person they had to work under for most of it.
I look at it objectively And the team in black and amber, looked like a team at serious risk of relegation To use the dreaded xg We had 0.50 or so from all our shots We werent close to scoring And a team with suspensions and injuries came, got an early goal and sat back content Blackburn did their job We had lots of the ball, and we have lots of effort But its akin to trying to blow down a house made of bricks Selles is a genius if he keeps us up In a way, i think becasue our performances arent 'terrible' is actually a bigger concern Becasue if we were just playing woefully A new manager might change that easily But i feel like our cieling is not much higher we just look a level below winning games We try and try But no quality or cohesion
20,544 was the attendance put up on the screens yesterday. Looked under 20K to me, but I'm not an accountant.
worst form in all 4 leagues.....haven't looked but maybe worst form in Europe over a 10 game period!?!?!
You're not kidding. Cambridge look like serious goners, though, yesterday, they stunned those other serial goners Shrewsbury. If Selles keeps them up, as well, that will be a major achievement.
Alongside this, as bad as we have been so far this season - there’s still 5 teams who if we win just one more game than them between now and May, we’ll finish above. Everyone knows we’re in trouble but to me there’s no point in wallowing in it. We’ve made the manager change and we now need to wait to see how we go as this side could have enough to start taking us clear. If we’re still in this position February/March time it’ll be different but it’s early December and we’ve just got a new man in. Lots of water to go under the bridge yet. We were unlucky not to get a draw yesterday against a decent team. Bring us a poor team and let’s see how we do.
