It baffles me how often this forums calls opposition teams poor when they’ve just beaten us and sit at the top end of the table. Good teams win even if they don’t operate at 100% and Blackburn have four wins on the bounce, more than double our points and are 6th. I wouldn’t call that ****.

Since 2001/2002 the average to stay up is 49 points (rounded up from 48.6). I think it’s looking lower than average this year, but we’ll see as the season goes on. Also, as you say, teams have gone down with more.

If we need to reach 54 points we’d need 1.44 points per game until the end of the season. Two wins from every four games. Almost double our 0.79 current points per game return. If Selles keeps us up I’d be inclined to say he deserves to be manager of the season.

Not going with my head but with my heart, I think we will be safe after all games played but as I said, that's my heart saying that. <cheers>

A lot of talk about new signings, but to sign some new players we're going to need to ship a load out. There's no guarantees with loan signings that we can cancel them, though I'd expect as a minimum Brighton and citeh would want rushworth and burns to go somewhere they'll actually play. Of the players mentioned to get rid of, the question is who is going to be buying them? Any bids likely to come are going to be less that we paid.....it's going to be a tough Jan transfer window to navigate

In almost 3 years of acuns ownership

    We've gone backwards
Total incompetence across the top levels of the club

A significant level of comfort taken from all the other teams around us being in the same ****, we're not cut adrift so don't have to go on a mad 5 game winning streak or alike to get out the bottom 3....but being bottom is not where anyone wants to be.

It’s stating the bleeding obvious but if we are to stay up then a lot needs to change.

We’ve currently got the worst form in the division, have scored the least number of goals and are the worst performers at home among the 24 clubs.

There’s some hopelessly optimistic posters on here who keep posting that we often look the better team, that the teams we play don’t look as good as us and that somehow it’s all going to come right in the end.

Yesterday we looked shocking. It’s nonsense to say that Blackburn didn’t play well, that they’re not a top 6 team or that their 4 wins in a row are somehow lucky. They won because they know how to win. Whether they look pretty or not is completely irrelevant. They were very well organised, played as a team and easily kept us at arm’s length. Saying that they were lucky to win because we scored the goal for them is incredibly naive.

We will be relegated unless Selles can turn us around. Step 1 I suggest is to turn us into a team like Blackburn. Not pretty on the eye but well organised, solid in defence and able to take chances when they come our way.

Why am I a prick for saying we didn't spend 19m?

We spent roughly 3.5m on both Giles and Omur, we spent less than that on Kamara, and Sinik would have been about 2m-2.5m as well. Even going off the reported fees (which would have included add ons), there's no way you get close to 19m. So maybe instead of calling me names, why don't YOU explain how you came up with 19m?

I don’t think this squad stays up, as others have posted it’s all about January , a goalscorer and a couple of players with bollocks who are going to put their bodies/ heads on the line and fight for the cause to give Selles a chance .

It's absolutely mad that in 10 months we've gone from fighting for a play off spot to fighting to stay in the league under an owner trying to invest, spend money and improve the team. Under the Allams it made sense because they were selling assets, but this is even crazier.

I just can’t see where the next draw is coming from, let alone win. As soon as we concede, heads drop. We have some of the worst finishers I’ve ever seen since supporting the club. If it was one dodgy striker then fair enough as we’ve suffered that before but it’s all three strikers, the wingers and midfielders who can’t finish. There’s zero composure in those split second decisions. The players simply don’t have the fight, physicality, quality or confidence for a relegation fight.

Lots of posters think a different manager gets a lot better from this ‘talented’ squad and that Walter was the main problem. If Sellés pulls it off, he’d be one of the greatest managers in the club’s history, in my opinion. This is an incredibly poor group of players who are stealing a living. I accepted Walter was the wrong man for the job weeks ago but I still maintain that the players are simply not good enough regardless of who the manager is.

It'll be fine, I suspect we now have a pragmatic coach that will give this these players a bit of confidence - UTT
