Yeah, it is a good cliché. My daughter did it this year, as she always does, even though that was her only contribution, I did the rest. She's our youngest, and I think the 'magic' will be lessened this year as she's old enough to be cynical, unfortunately. That tree was £13 by the way, Tesco. Not really that expensive.
She's the reason we put it up a week early this year, she's off skiing with school for some of December so she could 'enioy' the effect. Not sure it was worth doing, she's spends most of her time out and the rest in her room, but everything is up now so it's all sorted.
Aye its nice when they are younger. My eldest is nearly 14 and she couldnt give a **** about christmas or family time beyond "how much are you spending on me?" "I want this, this and this....." My youngest is still angelic and nice, am waiting for the day she turns into a demon like her sister and dreading it
One who is just at the limit of believing and is aware Santa isn’t the one delivering iPads etc. but can afford the other stuff. And a feral pre school one who gave the Santa cam a raspberry when threatened this morning with no toys for behaving like a dick.
We are having pigs in blankets for Christmas this year…. or as I like to call them, in-laws in the spare room (taken from Gary Delaney)

That’s not true, don’t want to see a modern day Ebenezer Scrooge Bringing people down. https://amzn.eu/d/42NrHJV
The worst case scenario is you don’t have a pointless tree ****ting needles all over your front room.
