I don't think what Iwelumo is being asked to do should ordinarily be enough to get a striker into the team. But he is doing it, and we've had six unbeaten games and a controversial 1-0 defeat in the last seven. Hard to argue with the decision at this stage.
End of the day.....Hogg is a great guy to have to break up play....but he's not going to drive us forward. Buaben hasn't exactly done that either so it's hard for us to pass the ball into those positions. Iwelumo is the big lump we aim at who then heads or chests it on to other players....those getting us into those positions higher up the pitch. He might not be a good player technically or speed wise....but he has the physical attributes to help us out.
lol i know...and i did...and i was wrong, but i'll take 2-1 happily! Hmm, i'm torn on the Big Chris scenario. On the one hand, he does what he's asked to do...but he's slow and doesn't do a lot else...because he actually can't. However, i'd love to see Deeney get a start, i think he deserves it..but then again, why change a winning formula. Hard enough for us to sit here and pontificate, i can't imagine being the manager! Well done SD, whatever it is you're doing, you're doing it right And this too
It is hard to disagree with dont mess with a winning team theory, although it is obvious that Big chris only brings a very limited amount to the table,However till we get a creative midfielder to be the conduit from defence to attack , our main option is the hoof to Chris his flick on to someone else! Not pretty ,but at times effective, but he is so slow!!! I would like Deeney to be given a run of starts in his favoured position ,to see if it gives us any better options! If not then revert back to plan A!
The way Dickinson has been buzzing around, maybe he should move up into midfield and give James a start at LB Plus, of course, Deeney up front. He is just the type of busy, bustling player who can unsettle defenders at this level and pull them out of position - even if he doesn't score many, opportunities will present for the likes of Sordell.
