In consideration of the whole thing thought I might put up my thoughts on it all:

-Perch was alright- The lad gets a lot of stick for his previous many cockups but I thought this match he did alright in the place of the defending demigod that is Fabricio Coloccini. Got stuck in, was alright in the air (apart from the first goal) - seems to have got his confidence back.

-It's time to give Santon a chance - Ryan Taylor has done well enough this season as a utility player; he's not a brilliant defender but he presents a decent enough attacking threat and his set pieces are a major asset to the team. But Pardew gave him a chance to make up for his mistakes against City and he hasn't done so.

Sturridge skinned him constantly and only by virtue of our Dutch goalkeeping maestro and some pretty ****e finishing did he not put more in. We have an excelllent young Italian defender waiting in the wings and its time he's given a chance to show his quality.

-Alan Smith, along with most of the media is a biased twat - from the absolute start of the match Smith had it in for Newcastle - every single thing he said was just biased as **** - its really starting to piss me off.

-Lack of movement - during the match players like Obertan and Ba were left surrounded by closing-in Chelsea players with absolutely no support from the midfield. So they had to try and trick their way past a wall of players with no assistance - just no movement

-It's been said before and I'll say it again; spend some money you fat twat - We can't always rely on Demba for the goals and don't really have any real inspiring other options (except Shola) - we need a Maiga or Giroud, someone else to provide a threat. And some quality defensive cover for when inevitably half our defence gets injured mid-season.

    And lastly...

    Tim Krul - legend

I thought a number of our players did quite well that match - Guthrie played well and the Ameobis provided a new attacking threat. But the amount of times Chelsea were in on goal and me and the gents I was watching it with looked away in horror Krul made save after save. He kept us in that match and I really can't praise him enough. Mata for MOTM? Krul IMHO

We have the ESPN coverage here, so I missed out on Alan Smith commentary -- sounds like I'm to be grateful.

You were lucky - I'm pretty sure it was him - just biased as hell; Ray Hudson would have been more insightful.

Alan Smith made out we should have lost 9-0.

    Agree on all counts <applause>

Hopefully Maiga is a done deal, then we can spend the rest of the window looking at defenders.

I love how were talking about buying players in January when we all know we will sell a few also.

I should have known it wasn't going to be a good day when I almost got knocked into the middle of next week at the bottom of John Dobson St. Was just walking toward the ground when a raven haired heavy made female getting off the #40 bus bumped into me and didn't even seem to feel it, didn't even look round. It's not as If I'm on the small side either.

Completely agree with this article. Thought Perch did very well in the second half, but he was very poor for the first goal.

Aye, I just really hope we spend well in January and hold onto those key players we can build the team around. 3-0 was an incredibly harsh result and there were a few positives to be taken, so bring on the Canaries.

A lot of work to be done before next Saturday to try and restore the players belief in themselves. I think the game is going to be a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.

Coming home after losing makes the journey seem a hell of a lot longer.

It does, but I always expected Norwich to be more of a challenge than Chelsea tbh; they're a fighting team with a quality manager who are doing quite well. But you're right - and the defensive situation will have quite an affect on the result I'd expect.
