Hello and welcome to the fourth edition of Loan Watch. Loan Watch is a feature in which I will be updating you with our how the players Kenny Dalglish sent out on loan are doing. We currently have six players out on loan and they are:

• David Amoo- Bury.
• Alberto Aquilani- AC Milan.
• Joe Cole- Lille.
• Stephen Darby- Rochdale.
• Peter Gulacsi- Hull City.
• Dani Pacheco- Atletico Madrid/Rayo Vallecano.

David Amoo:

David Amoo was sent out on loan to Bury on the 23rd September for a month. He scored on his debut as Bury beat Yeovil 3-1. David got the second goal as they came from behind to pick up the three points. On the 20th of October, Bury extended the loan so that Bury had him until the 2nd of January. David got the winner last weekend as Bury beat Preston North End 1-0. So far, David has played 6 games (1 of these was as a substitute) and has got 2 goals. He was highly praised by the Bury manager Richie Barker who said that David had 'written himself into Bury folklore'

Here are the highlights of Bury's last game in which David got the winner: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15910600.stm

Alberto Aquilani:

Alberto was sent out on loan to AC Milan on the 25th of August for a season. He has played 12 games and scored 1 goals with was against Napoli. Alberto has got 7 assists for Milan. He has slotted well into the Milan midfield and the 7 assists clearly show that Alberto has been immense in Italy. AC Milan currently sit top of Serie A and the stats clearly show that Alberto has been key to that success.

Joe Cole:

Joe was sent out on loan to Lille on the 31st of August for the season. He has played 17 times for the French champions and has got 3 goals and 2 assists. Joe has worked hard to fit into the French side and this effort has been noted by his colleague Moussa Sow...

And here is one of Joe's goals: (Pretty good I think!)

Stephen Darby:

Stephen was sent out on loan to Rochdale on the 7th of July for the season. Stephen has played 22 times for the League 1 side. He has slotted into the right-back position and has made it his own. Stephen has been solid for Rochdale and recieved the man of the match award for his performance against Carlise United on the 16th of August.

Peter Gulacsi:

Peter was sent out on loan to Hull City on the 19th of July for a season. He has played 10 times for Hull this season. Peter started the season as the first-choice goalkeeper but some poor performances resulted in him being replaced by the more experienced Adriano Basso. However, an injury to Basso against Barnsley on the 1st of November gave Peter the chance to prove his worth and since then, Peter has played every game despite Basso coming back to full fitness.

Dani Pacheco:

Dani was sent out on loan to Atletico Madrid on the 24th of August. However, in a weird twist, he was sent out on loan to Rayo Vallecano from Atletico Madrid! Dani has played 7 times for the Spanish side (All from the bench) and hasn't scored. The lad has seemed to have fallen away and the fact he was sent on loan by the club that had just got him on loan is very weird...

Thanks for reading. If I have missed anything or you would like anything added in, please ask.

Great thread Chris, Darby would be good cover but we have other options and should be sold for 3 or 4 Million imo as he would be a starter in any mid/lower PL team.

Amoo is ****, Gulacsi is OK-ish but gives fans some real heart-attack moments.

I noticed that Gulacsi has kept his place since Basso got injured in November and Basso has been on the bench so he is fit again, so Gulacsi must be doing something right to keep his place in the side?

<ok>

Gulacsi will improve as the season goes on and may be our future reserve keeper but I think Amoo will never get anywhere near our first team.

Cheers!

I've got mixed feelings about Darby. He seems like a decent player but like you have said, we've got Johnson, Kelly and Flanagan in the right-back position so I can't see him getting much game time at Liverpool.

I can see him going to a lower Championship/higher League 1 side on a permanent deal in the summer.

Can't see Amoo, Darby, Pacheco or Gulacsi making it with us. Think all will probably be sold in January or the Summer.
Cole will be an interesting one. Whether he comes back and gets some games in pre-season to show he's back to his old form again or if it's best for everyone he moves on and plays first team football week in week out.

Aqualani will most probably go to an Italian team in the summer for a reduced price as well which is a shame.

Cheers Sky!

Agree with you regarding Amoo, Darby & Pacheco. I think Gulacsi could be our back-up keeper in the future. Doni is 32 and we've got him for two years. I think Gulacsi could become back-up to Reina after that.

Great stuff, Chris.

To me the really interesting one is Joe Cole. Do we just think he's just 'not Liverpool' - and never will be? Or was it just that he arrived in the midst of all the 'Woy' nonsense and his head was never in the right place?

Whenever he did play he lacked confidence and he was carrying extra ballast, but who's to say that a confidence-boosting season with Lille won't do him the power of good?

I, for one, would love him to come good in a Liverpool shirt, but my sense is that the moment has past. Shame. GKRK.

gulasci has real quality. I don't really get why guys think a guy who's barely 20 and has no expereince can be weighed agaisnt a propoer pro keeper like doni or even de gea who has lots of expereience before his move to utd.

The loan is designed to get him that experience.

darby does need a move which is a pity for a loal koppite but i wish him the best and can see him doing a warnock and being a top pro as his work ethic is top class.

Amoo needs to learn work ethic so we'll see what he's like when he comes back.

for all of these guys the new set up at the club at reserve level should mean that when you are about 19-20 either you are in the first team squad or you are on your bike.... it'll be interesting to see what happens to pacheco for sure.

Let's be honest.

David Amoo- Bury. - Will never play for us at first XI level.
Alberto Aquilani- AC Milan. - Will unfortunately never play for us again.
Joe Cole- Lille. - A huge disappointment, now in a pedestrian league.
Stephen Darby- Rochdale. - If he was foreign he'd be long gone.
Peter Gulacsi- Hull City. - Could actually be useful.
Dani Pacheco- Atletico Madrid/Rayo Vallecano. - Needs to start performing very soon.

I'm not planning on making another edition of 'Loan Watch' until after Christmas so I thought I would put a little mini-update in this thread and update everyone on how the six players out on loan got on this weekend.

•David Amoo: David started for Bury and played 68 minutes as Bury were beaten 4-1 by Colchester.

•Alberto Aquilani: Alberto played the full 90 minutes as AC Milan were held 2-2 by Bologna.

•Joe Cole: Joe played the full 90 minutes as Moussa Sow and Eden Hazard gave Lille a 2-0 over Dijon FCO. Joe was involved in the second goal which Hazard finished off. Joe also had chances to score and hit the post in the final 10 minutes.

•Stephen Darby: Stephen played the full 90 minutes at right-back as his side, Rochdale, were beaten 3-0 by Sheffield United.

•Peter Gulacsi: Peter played the full 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet as Hull City beat the bottom side Coventry City and moved into 5th place in the Championship table.

•Dani Pacheco: Dani didn't get on the field as his side, Rayo Vallecano, were beaten 3-1 by Sporting Gijion. Ex-Rangers striker Nacho Novo got two of the goals for Sporting Gijion.
