Fine lines , between Isidor or Connolly up front , for now I would stick with Isidor , eventually I think Mayenda is the best bet, but Isidor has a touch of magic lacking in the alternatives, only time will tell if isidor has the presence to cut it alone. Connolly can also play the " Pritchard " role if required These are good options, much better than we had last season all are available at little cost if we involved our subs a bit earlier Nothing like the match day environment to test out theories . My niggling doubt is its not the players available thats making him hold back , but his own cautious nature. .
Patterson Hume O'Nien Ballard Cirkin Connolly Neil Jobe Mayenda Isidor Watson Think we need something different on the right and Mayenda did enough for me against Millwall to deserve a shot at the position. Heading into another 3 game week so i'd look to give Rigg a rest in at least 1 of the games and I think RLB would go with Connolly over anyone else in that position. I worry about our chance creation still and think it'll be another struggle on Saturday against a side that have drawn a lot recently and don't really score or concede many in their away games. Got some good players in their squad, especially their frontline in Manhoef, Cannon and Bae. 1-1. Watson.
great to have Cirkin back and i would play Mayenda instead of Roberts too really need to get back to winning ways Haway The Lads
Agree mate, very fine lines. Isidor is a talent, no doubt. We areguably need to play to his strengths better, and arguably he needs to improve a bit too. Dont they all though. It is a fair observation on Regis so far. He is a cautious manager in many respects. Some of the early season 1 goal wins were great displays of defensive shape. Arguably other coaches have worked on playing against us, so we need to adapt again. A bit more from the attacking players in the final 3rd is key, needing to keep clean sheets then will become less relevant. Watson looks for all the world another good one from our back yard. Enjoying watching him a lot. A lot to learn, but he looks a talent and of he develops physically like Jobe did last season to this, he could be a big player for us next season.
To be fair I'd say we have adapted ... ... it's not like we've played one style, so far, and now need a radical change. The players are being allowed to learn on the job and they seem to have accepted that.
That is fair. I think we can do more, and will, as an attacking force. Sometimes when under pressure we could be better at pushing teams back a bit. We can get a bit stuck on the edge of our box at times. Very young team, coaches learning. I am still focussed on top 2 personally, always said we will be better second half of season and maintain that.
We've proved we have the talent so, for me, it's just a matter of experience, coaching and the right players back. I'm really looking forward to the final third of the season and holding back some days off and finances to be able to follow us. If you look at the last 15 games I'd say that's about as good a run in as you could wish for ... ... hopefully plenty of teams with nothing much to play for and QPR at home on the last day. That could be a sell out and a great day.
Looks like the weather might have a part to play in this one. Current forecast suggests gusts of up to 60mph during the game, with sustained winds of about 30mph through out. A day to keep the ball on the deck I think.
Half the teams, at the SOL, would be crippled by this 'Eight seconds for goalkeepers to release ball – or concede a corner. Law-makers impressed by trial in Premier League’s u21 competition.' https://x.com/martynziegler/status/1864713139247345902?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1864713139247345902|twgr^6bc0df83a1ca8209ac85eee8d8e0ea212fdbb9a0|twcon^s1_&ref_url=https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/corners-if-keeper-timewastes.1645476/
Not sure if already posted but there is a collection on behalf of the Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen planned for Saturday(i may be reading it wrong and it could be on behalf of another organisation?). https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...-update-samed-abdullahi-poveda-mundle-browne/ REGIS Le Bris is hoping Ian Poveda, Salid Abdul Samed and Ahmed Abdullahi are all fit to feature for Sunderland in the coming weeks, with the head coach saying the availability of the trio would be a welcome Christmas "gift"…. The head coach said: "I hope maybe in two or three weeks we are going to have some more solutions. Another winger in Ian Poveda, another midfielder with Salis, another striker with Ahmed. We could have one or two solutions in every position. "I'm hoping that I will get some gifts around the Christmas period and we will have these players available, because it is important for the team to introduce some new energy and more competition in certain places. Romaine and Browney we hope will be available at the start of January."
