Then Labour has had fourteen ample years to plan their change. I am still waiting for your explanation on how taking resources out of the care system you think the Country does not have improves its function?

I already agreed it hasn’t, and that you know far more than I do how to fix the issue, what is clear to me is it needs a cross party approach, I think it has suffered from being used as a political football.

The Government does not need a cross party approach to not exempt the social care sector from its NIC increase. The labour party is in power now and reversing the increased NIC implementation, plus the Chancellor additional payments start to increase the sums of money going into social care rather than increasing payments out to the exchequer.

In the past lefties have had solutions to create improvements - The social care act 2004 created improvements in care. In 2024 the Labour party had goals like the fair pay agreement, the national care service, except they have no detail, no explanation of how these goals will be achieved. That was on the campaign trail.

Now? In power still no detail, no explanation of how these goals will be achieved. On any political compass I appear as very left wing, while being socially conservative. The nations care should be a primary concern of left and right. I think the left should be all over the Labour parties goals ensuring they are going to be delivered .. At present we have hope and already in care provision we are not planning for better, we are planning for the worst, the projections we have are resources being cut and staffing and standards diminishing.

I don’t disagree with you, obviously I’m nowhere near as well versed on this as you. We should do whatever needs to be done to give social care the resources needed, and to join it together with the NHS, they should run hand in hand imo

Social care should be widely integrated with the NHS. Social care reform was part of the Labour parties manifesto. Building a national care service was a priority. Today the Prime Minster revealed that social care reform is not a top priority. No surprises the Labour party narrative changes by the month regarding social care.

As we know % of vote means diddly squat, it’s how they are spread, and the number of seats won that counts. Plus it’s academic as vote won’t be held for another 4 years.

    Statmer doesn’t get it
I think he reckons people will look at how Labour have done giving us green energy at the expense of fossil fuels in 4 years time

I don’t think the electorate at large give a toss about green energy

They are far far more concerned whether the energy we have is affordable for both business and domestic consumers

Im pro green energy and fossil fuels being sensibly phased out over the next few decades, but not to set stupid short term targets that are unachievable and which keep people cold and poor in the meantime

Contrary to Ashton's belief's, as a hardened well cemented in Labourite, regarding me or the past 14 years, DENIAL is a sad feature to be entombed within. I have stated I have voted outside the blue box a number of occasions since the 60's. My hobbies have been based around being very careful planned and safety first.. one belief was you die from falling 10ft or be extremely badly injured. SO in the 80's I added to that philosophy by adding self appraisal of whether I achieved the best i could have for that day and had investigated all outcomes.
So realistically I support green energy, fossil fuel and nuclear. 200 odd years ago start of industrial age we had fossil fuels and wood as sources of energy .............. Do I support green energy, solar or wind even wave or hydro of course I do. Is it the expense of Fossil .. NO .[note***]
DO I SUPPORT THE LABOUR PLAN ON GREEN ENERGY .... absolutely NO, the reasoning is it is poorly researched and a knee jerk reaction because they need always to have something different unfortunately most of the best ideas come from others. ........... GBE an £8 -10bn start up company .gov owned is not going to do it, it will cost over the next 4-5 years in excess of £25bn and our energy bills wont reflect the cheapness of its generation...... its free just a few thousand £'s to put up a turbine and it generates enough Electric to pay for itself 1000's if not 10,s of thousands in its life span BUT Labour has already committed at least £1bn to pay the wind farms to stop energy production as it is all in a state of unbalanced supply.
COAL well it has its uses for certain energy consumptions so coal generation is a standby niche source I can do without it or go with it if pressed.
OIL this is a commodity that is blamed for a lot of things least of all CO2 and Plastic. it is responsible for at least 20 -30 major needs! my motto likewise gas would be keep on drilling, but not at the expense of cheaper compromises.. or alternatives. If there is enough alternatives and oil and gas lasts another 200 years so be it
GAS WHEN ITS GONE IT IS GONE so those that simply depend on it now will be out of options when its gone unless they have joined the multi energy revolution!
to try and be a so called leader and have "quick fixes" may easily cost the population dearly. THERE IS A FORMULA THAT ENSURES ENERGY PRICES CANNOT UNDERCUT THE MOST EXPENSIVE ONE TO GENERATE electric YES all generated energy is based on our cost to generate electric!
before you get confused ... wind and solar is dirt cheap for £300 I can set up a supply of electric to more than run all the lights in my house charge 4 phones 2 laptops and 2 100w security lights all at the same time.... it would last for about 5 hours 6 if all my bulbs were L E D ! THAT £300 would last at least 3 if not 4 years! Assuming all was not on same time would run the 36" Tv & sky as well!

It’s all really poorly thought through and short sighted and on days where we generate excess wind based electricity the National Grid has nowhere to store it
It’s all totally bonkers and pure virtue signalling
    Milkiband wants sectioning

I know it’s only one poll but if it were true nationally and there was an election now, so many Labour MPs have marginal seats that Rayner, Streeting, Cooper and Jess Phillips plus many more would all lose their seats
    What a lovely thought <laugh>
