Surprised there's not been much talk about this. What were the stewards playing at by doing absolutely nothing? Club is a joke from top to bottom right now it seems.
Well at least the whole board chose last night to witness the whole debacle. Oh wait....they won't do anything.
Where do I begin with that crock of ****. Well. I suppose I'll start with the silver lining which was because of the early KO I only just made it in time for the match and thusly missed the lightshow. I'll take any tiny win at this point. The thing is, and one of the many things that Mr. Delusional doesn't seem to get, is that despite the worst start to a season in our 139 year history, despite the fact that no team in top flight English football has ever stayed up after a start as bad as ours has been...the crowd was there to get behind the team last night. It was one of those occasions where we understood that we had **** all chance with most of our good players missing and against a team of £100m players (which is an utter piss take of whatever PSR is supposed to be achieving btw whilst we supposedly can't even afford to sack our manager, but I digress), whilst we have to bring in a £3m CB who has never played above Championship level, and later a £3m CB who has spent most of his career so far in League 1. It was the type of mentality when you are a League 1 side playing a top PL side in the cup and we started quite well! I thought the Chelsea side with their 7 changes looked like they weren't up for a team being up in their faces and putting them under pressure. It was a bright start from us and a slow start from them and then what happens? We concede an awful goal from a corner. Looked like a shambles attempt at defending that set piece (I've not seen any replays) but that is what we come to expect from a RM team. The game restarts and what happens? The crowd gets behind the team and we continue our good play, moving the ball forward much quicker than we have done for much of the season, and causing Chelsea problems resulting in some excellent play from KWP (who was so good in the first 30 mins or so) which resulted in us getting a deserved equaliser. Did I expect us to be able to hold onto that point or maybe even get all 3? Absolutely not, but that's not the reason we finally saw the crowd start to turn last night. We were on top, we were passing it well and importantly moving it forward with purpose and pace and playing in the spaces Chelsea were leaving. We were only really under pressure when we decided to play a risky pass along the back line, and lo and behold...you just can't keep doing what we did next. The same ****ing bullshit ponderous risk taking at the back that has already seen us give away so many goals this season...and here we go, we gift wrap another entirely predictable, groundhog-day goal again and that absolutely KILLED the momentum that the team had AND killed the fans too. Sat there in the crowd it feels so pointless getting enthusiastic about positive play when you know that we can play well for 20 minutes, the opposition can do **** all, and then we just give them a goal out of nothing. It's happened far too many times now and this seemed to be the final straw with a lot of fans at the game. I'd say we were still competitive after that, but Chelsea were growing into it and suddenly started looking dangerous because of their own quality rather than because we are ****. Tbh I was happy when they scored the third because it was at least a goal created from their own good play. Whilst Chelsea were now the better team, we still felt somewhat involved in a competitive game until...we won a corner. I didn't see what happened at the game. Just saw that floppy haired bellend acting as if he had just been hit by a truck (which he does several times a game anyway because he is a colossal ****). It was only when VAR got involved that I realised that sideshow wasn't the biggest twat there. Inexcusable and completely brain dead from Stephens. I booed him off along with many others in the ground. Supposed to be our captain and does that for no ****ing reason when we are already up against it with a makeshift side. Completely agree that he should be striped of the captaincy after this latest moment of idiocy. From that point onwards, it was a training game for Chelsea. There were boos at half time and the crowd began taking the piss out of how **** we are which was the most enjoyable thing about the second half. Chelsea should have really won that by 8 or 9. And RM was booed when he went over to clap the fans at the end before doing a U-turn and heading straight for the tunnel. How brave. Delusional twat thinks it was just because we lost heavily. He plays at football manager in his own little world and he just feels so far detached from the reality of what we are doing and seeing. Still no way near the collective vitriol that Jones got, but it now finally feels like we will build up to that until he finally gets sacked. Edit: Almost forgot about the pitch invader situation. Just as embarrassing as our attempt to stay in this league. What the **** is the point of stewards and security if it takes them like 4 ****ing minutes to react to that?? We should get fined to **** for that tbh. Luckily it was just a drunk fan who obviously decided he didn't want to suffer at St.Marys anymore, but if it was someone with any malicious intent it was a scarily slow reaction. Was it a member of the Saints coaching team that got him off the pitch?
The thing that really pisses me off is Leicester. They’re having a good go of it. They might still fail and go down, but they’re trying. I don’t think their squad is significantly better than ours - I’d put five of our players in their starting eleven, so nigh on half, and they didn’t spend a shedload either. But they aren’t playing idiotic football, they’re trying to win matches with what they have. Moreover, their board have been decisive with the manager situation because they know that there’s a chance, and if the gamble pays off they may stay up. I hate them, but I wish them luck with that. As I say, it might not work, but at least they’re having a go at it.
I have. Turned off my Saints App notification etc so I can have my phone on when not at a match and be in total ignorance of any football action. Email going into the club shortly too.
No mate, that guy is player security. He's not a steward or one of those "response team" jokers. He's not there for the crowd/general security incidents
Absolutely 100%. That would be a brilliant email to send to the club, but it would just be a complete waste of time. I read that James Bree felt that 5-1 flattered them, what absolute BS. Chelsea could have hit double figures. The delusional juice must be on tap.
Their latest stroke of luck (in a recent history of loads of luck) was Maresca getting poached by Chelsea. They would be just as bad as us if he were still there I’m sure. If Martin had been the one taken by Chelsea we could quite feasibly be in their position (still likely to go down but at least having a chance)
The other thing that annoys me, and the one thing Floppy Nathan has right, is that it is a good bunch of lads in the main. None of them downed tools last night (Sulemana never picked his up in the first place), but the poor buggers don’t have a chance like this.
After sleeping on it, I just cant see the point of this suicide football. It has no reward and is all risk. It is total madness that you can play the second best team in the league, maybe Europe and play in that way. then say "there were some positives" and "I am proud". Totally lost it. I said it after a couple of games of Nathan Jones, but now I am saying it again. I will not go to St Mary's whilst he is there. So see you all next year in the ground
I’m comparing our result with the Wolves score. The goal difference is the same, but Wolves played a poor team, with their better players. We played a good team with our poorest players. Not an excuse but it is a slight plus on another terrible night of football.
Totally agree. He’s never been captain material anyway in my view, he just happened to be our most experienced & longest servant when Russ took over. If we can keep hold of him, it’s gotta be THB for captain next season. Although he’s young, he’s experienced in being both a leader & playing in the Championship. Very vocal on the pitch too
