Sunderland Under-21s fell to a 3-2 defeat to Manchester City in Premier League 2 action at Eppleton CW. Despite the Lads taking the lead twice through Trey Ogunsuyi and Harrison Jones, goals from Joshua Wilson-Esbrand, Michael Okeke and Emilio Lawrence sealed the three points for the league leaders. The Black Cats took the lead with less than ten minutes on the clock. Joe Anderson lofted the ball over the top of the City defence for Ogunsuyi to control and apply the finish. The visitors continued to apply the pressure as Farid Alfa-Ruprecht drove through on goal, only to be denied by an outstanding save from Kelechi Chibueze. With a third of the game played, Ogunsuyi looked likely to grab his second as he rounded Oliver Whatmuff in the City net but the Belgium international could only strike the foot of the post. Manchester City had their equaliser just before the break. Wilson-Esbrand firing from distance. Murty’s side started the second half in a similar vein to the first, regaining the lead just five minutes in. Tom Lavery’s pass was excellently dummied by Ogunsuyi, straight into the path of H.Jones to apply the finish. The game was once again levelled with just over 15 minutes to play. Okeke applied the finish from close range after Matthew Henderon-Hall's driven cross. Ben Wilkinson’s side wrapped up the contest in the final moments as Lawrence latched onto the long ball before finishing underneath Kelechi Chibueze. Our U21s return to action next Wednesday to take on Gateshead in the National League Cup. SAFC: Chibueze, Lavery, Bell, Anderson, Jenson Jones, Lenz (Jaydon Jones 80), Middlemas, H.Jones, Ba, Tutierov (Walsh 70), Ogunsuyi Unused subs: Cameron, Holcroft, Scott

Have we signed about ten new players for this game? I just don’t recognise any of the names the commentator is using..
His pronunciation of Aouchiche and Ba are particularly annoying. No idea why we needed to know about his crown jewels clacking in the wind.
