Yep - and so far I've not seen anything to change that opinion - in fact, what I've seen so far confirms it
I have no idea how he’s doing for Ipswich. Watched the opening game against Liverpool and everyone was raving about him. I might’ve agreed with you two years ago but I think he’s worked on the weaker parts of his game.
one thing ive noticed in that liverpool game and first half vs palace, the only times ive seen him in the prem are, he has a tendancy to 'go to the ground' too much when trying to make blocks etc, kinda turning his body, i feel like its a weakness in the prem, as it leaves him open to being duked etc it stands out as i dont really see other defenders doing it
fans views from the other night --- 'and hiw many mistakes has a completely off the pace Greave made tonight???' 'Greaves was well off the pace' 'I think A not totally fit Greaves was forced to play' and from McKenna --- “I think he can be pleased with his performances in the early games. There's still a lot to come, there are still moments and instances where the quality of the opposition or certain movements have caught him out, that's a quick look as I haven't really been paying attention but my issue with him was too slow, constantly out of position and a goal waiting to happen - it appears that's still the case
He tried to tackle stop the guy Mateta with his right but he’s left footed and was unbalanced and muscled off it shows like with Drameh you need to generally be playing to your strong foot -
I think that's a good observation, Drameh often gets himself in to those kind of off balance pickles haha.
Stephens just been sent off for Southampton for a very small tug at Cucurella's hair. Arsehole went down like a sniper had blown the back of his head off, and ref got called over to the screen for VAR for violent conduct. Games gone soft
That’s exactly it. The right centre-back O’Shea was tracking Mateta but let him get away and Greaves had to cover but was off balance.
So funny the commentators are making out like arsenals corners are undefendable!! A matter of months ago no one took corners like this anymore Too risky etc and doesn’t keep the ball Short corner is The only way!!! Even had posters on here condescendingly trying to explain how and why it’s done Arf So funny
That's great if you have players who can kick a static ball into the same area every time. We absolutely do not. https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/1822shw/luke_williams_the_notts_county_manager_explaining/
Chelsea could’ve hit double figures tonight against Saints. Southampton were lucky not to concede nine or more goals for the third time in the Premier League. Chelsea scored five and still looked incredibly wasteful in front of goal. Lots of teams play out from the back but I don’t think I’ve seen anyone do it worse than Southampton under Russell Martin. Every highlight I’ve seen of them this season has include them conceding from losing the ball whilst playing out from the back. It’s just straight passes to tightly-marked players who have their back to the opposition. They’re not even receiving it on the half-turn so they’re completely unaware of there being a man on. Martin and O’Neill at Wolves have got to be sacked soon, surely?
Newcastle v Liverpool was a great game to watch, like football used to be . 2 teams attacking with speed , getting the ball wide and not competing to see who can pass the ball around the centre circle 500 times .
A new trial by football's lawmakers will see a corner awarded to the opposition, should goalkeepers hold onto the ball too long. The trial has been successful in the U21s Premier League and means referees will count down from five to zero.
