<laugh> You scrape around for a comment that supports your Brexshit and get all excited.

Is the UK doing better or worse since Brexshit?

    'Scrape around'.

I simply read your tweet, which is clearly more than you did in your desperation.

The number of companies fleeing the London Stock Exchange has soared to its highest level in 14 years – when Labour was last in government – as the UK’s investment appeal continues to tumble. A staggering 45 companies have de-listed so far this year, the most since 2010, according to Bloomberg data. Meanwhile, confidence in the UK’s business climate has plunged to its lowest point since December 2022, with employment dipping for the second month in a row…

The London Stock Exchange is no longer a draw for major players, with Labour’s high tax, high regulatory environment turning away big business. Revolut’s CEO, Nikolay Storonsky, bluntly declared this week that listing in London is “not rational”. Investors are voting with their feet…

They would have tossed him off...

I mean they would have thrown him out of the window of the minaret just before the call to prayer...

The Rejoin morons really are struggling. They manage to mix up their own boasts and conflate individual nation states with the failing United States of France.

For “Immigration from the EU has dropped by -193%” read “Immigration into the EU has risen by 193%”, without asking how much of that ‘Immigration’ is legal and how much of it was not invited. Europeans moving between member states presumably do not count.

How much of those exports by the European nation states went outside of the EU? Germany’s top three export markets in 2023 were the USA, France and the Netherlands. In 2023, 31% of Germany’s exports were motor vehicles and machinery. France’s top three export markets in 2023 were Germany, Italy and Belgium. Of their top ten export destinations, only the USA (fifth) and China (seventh) were not European. Italy’s top three export markets in 2023 were Germany, France and the USA. The Netherlands top three export markets in 2023 were Germany, Belgium and France. Of their top ten export destinations, only the USA (fifth) and China (ninth) were not European.

According to the EU itself, the suprastate’s members exported €6.6tn in 2023, of which €4.13tn was internal trade. Total EU imports in 2023 were €6.53tn, of which (obviously €6.53tn minus €4.13tn) €2.4tn was external trade.

I just had a Morrisons own brand minestrone soup in a cup. I keep them in my office drawer in case of emergency.

    Any good?

I do love a proper home-made Minestrone soup in an Italian restaurant as a starter.

In fairness there is some dubious use of statistics going on here. Of the 45 companies that “left” the London Stock Exchange, how many of them transferred to another market as opposed to being taken over or taken private? According to Share Talk the 45 companies listed by Bloomberg were all the subject of mergers and acquisitions. A number of those being taken over will be because foreign investors see London as undervalued so they are snapping up a bargain while the United States is massively overvalued by an AI bubble.

In five minutes searching I found these fairly recent delistings that won’t have been in Bloomberg’s 45. The last one is a Monaco-based car manufacturer with some bloke called David Coulthard as a director.

GE Aerospace (secondary listing, still listed on NYSE)
Hyundai Motor Company (secondary listing, also delisted from Luxembourg SE, still listed in South Korea)
IBM (secondary listing, still listed on NYSE)
HeiQ (taken private for capital fund raising)
Tertre Rouge Assets plc (was a Special Purpose Acquisition Company)

The second last one of those is quite typical of delistings from the AIM market as small companies are finding that they can raise capital more easily as private entities, particularly if they are looking for venture capital in Britain.
