We scored 68 last year and finished 7th. WBA scored 70 finishing 5th.

    Great excuse to roll-out
"He's got not hair but we don't care, Alex Alex Neil!"

and when it eventually turns sour

    " He bald, he's b..."

Erm, no, maybe we can't use that one now....

It’s a bit quiet considering we are on the verge of appointing a new manager

Disagree, he has already shown he can handle extremely bad circumstances and come out the other side flying.

Same was probably said about Phil Parkinson.

If it's Selles or even Eustace I reckon it will be after the weekend now. If the Club know who their 1st choice is they might need to wait until after Saturday (if it's someone in a job). If it's someone out of work, there is no need for delaying things I wouldn't have thought.

Don't think Colchester under Parkinson were going through what Reading have gone through under Selles

Appointing a manager is always a gamble to some degree

I'd rather we took a bit more time and got it right rather than rush to appoint somebody

    as i've alluded to before

my number 1 pick is schumacher, but id be very happy with selles

i think my reasons for those two are, long term potential and growth, which ironically we had last season. but that tale has been done to death.

i think the good thing though is, if its any of the touted 6, they all have big experience inside english football, so my personal favs aside , you cant really complain if alex neil or robins etc got it
feels like we are going in the right direction at least

Did Phil Parkinson oversee a comfortable avoidance of relegation with a team in administration and then have them in the playoffs a season later?

I want us to find the next Rosenior. Someone to steer us clear of danger but then also to get us competing at the right end of the table in the longer term, just as he did. As I said last night, I don't think Alex Neil is that man. Ruben Selles sounds like he might be though, so I would like that appointment.

Biggest problem he'll have though is winning the fans over. Because he's foreign, seems to favour modern footballing principles and isn't proven at this level, it won't take many poor home games before people start complaining that it's all tippy-tappy, we need to gerrit forward, etc.

Winning games (however he does it) will be what wins the fans over (or not!). But that applies to any new manager coming in

he comes across much better than Tim. Especially in things like that article I’ve linked. He seems to understand the football is about being direct and adaptable rather than sticking to hard thought philosophies
