That's my thinking too, ergo we can put the deck chairs out until next Spring if we beat Girona. That is fantastic - Villa - and possibly City - will be competing right through the winter to make top 8 at best, or possibly the play-offs. That's a ****ing blessing that is.
The only advantage is top 8 get through to last 16. What you have is a seeding at the 9 to 16 teams v 17 to 24. In thr last 16 you will have teams ranked 1 to 8 in one pot and teams from the play off in the other. The thing seems to be an open draw so lfc could "win" the league phase and then draw the team who finished 9th or the team that finished 24th. We could have finished 8th and done the same thing? The only incentive now for lfc is winning a leavue that doesn't have a prize of nearly 2million per win or 500k for a draw (so 6mil to play for) We've won a group stage prize of 17mil and about 10mil from finishing top 8 and on top 10mil for wins. 37 mil thus far in awards and 16 or so in pool money. So 53 so far. Win the last 16 and it's another 12mil. It then increases fast.
