I'd love it, just love it if Howe would step aside and let the guest of honour do the team talk on Wednesday night
When I read about that Newcastle had beaten Arsenal, but I fear this is all set up nicely for another advertising board reminder.
3 points of the European places and 4 off the CL spots means he won't be in danger but he needs a decent few weeks now - if we were say 10+ points off European places ahead of the January window feel the board could make a move. After Wednesday's games it's likely to be 6/7 points off the above places but with some winnable games coming up and a QF so he'll need a upturn in form. If we are out of the cup and floundering he'll be gone. If we are in the SF and on UEFA tailcoats he'll be fine.
I think he's already under pressure. Poor performance against Liverpool and I think he will be shown the exit
Agree he is on very thin ice currently. However I don't think Liverpool is the crunch for him, - they are "beating Real Madrid and City in a week without conceding" good currently but could be if he doesn't get minimum 4 points before the QF against Brentford and make it through that...
I doubt it I don't think they'll sack him for another season. We will have to be like bottom 6 for him to go imo
I know how he thinks and he's setting the fans up whenever and whatever happens with Howe. The story will be that Newcastle fans chased him out and have unrealistic expectations. He's also gambling on the next guy struggling and throwing out the be careful what you ask for and I told you so articles.
I agree entirely with @Welshie , there is almost no situation that sees Howe sacked this season or even in the Summer. I mean, we're in zero danger of relegation, 3 years on the spin in the LC quarter final, and as has been pointed out within one decent result of climbing rapidly. Occasionally, the way we set up will just 'work' - we will not lose more then we lose, just based on the players we have. I also think it's not unreasonable to suggest we should probably be 5 points better off, with the Brighton and Everton finishing debacles not really anything that can be thrown at Howe. That all said, I still feel the whole club has gone a bit flat. I suppose that's normal given the transfers/PSR restrictions. Maybe we wouldn't all be hammering Howe if we'd been able to buy. But even so, the corner record is abysmal, the pre-planned subs alarming, the steadfast inability to move from 4-3-3 is an ongoing concern and simple stuff like not being able to fit Tonali in is bizarre. His recent comments have been really irritating - "happy" with 60 mins against West Ham, when we were 2-0 down, and then not happy after his own changes is bonkers stuff. Happy with a match against Palace where we can't find a shot on target is mental.
It's not just being a little crap tho We are painfully boring to watch too. People complain about a Jose team, we are far worse than that away from home. It feels like a back 7 job sometimes.
Personally I'm beginning to wonder if they just didn't want to give Howe any more money because of the way he appeared to carry on about Mitchell. They probably already have Jose lined up and a kitty saved up.
Mourinhos been chatting for a while that he has absolutely no intention of remaining at Fenerbahce. Feel likes he's only in Turkey cos "why not" tbh
Thing is though, Jose was on about honouring his contract so that means the end of next season I think.
