Ekwah played as the central centre back in a back 3 today for Saint Etienne against Rennes. Rennes won 5-0. I like Ekwah but one thing I'm confident he isn't is a centre back.
Indeed. Just had a click about to see what the score is with PE on the back of this. In a St Etienne team that looks like it could be in danger he seems to be doing pretty well. Interestingly it seems like his defensive work is shining. Lots of interceptions and blocks per 90. On the other side of the ball he's spraying the ball around lots and seemingly has the most secure touch of any central midfielder in Ligue 1. Makes me wish he was still at the club tbh. I'd bet he'd be in the team now if we hadn't cut bait on him (or he us, if that was how it went).
I've been meaning to catch a game but never got round to it. He would 100% be getting minutes at the moment as you say. Glad he's doing well as he seems like a great lad.
I watched the first half and it looked like he was just in front of the defence They were poor, especially after their red card.
Do you know where they are playing him? He should do well at that level, it helps that he can play across the defence as well.
