Afternoon all Planning on going into the city centre tonight to watch the match. Can you recommend some decent places to eat that will also have the match on? Sunniside came to mind but I'm really not familiar anymore. Cheers in advance!
Combining the two at 8pm in Sunderland is a bit tricky. Port of call should still be serving food and have the match on. I'd go for food a bit earlier then settle down in one of the bars and watch match. Vesta Tilleys have a band on at 8.30 so would serve that.
Port of Call if you want decent bait and the game in the same place, although it will likely be rammed. 3 stories has a 'sports bar' on the 2nd floor, and they server food (haven't tried it yet - the food). any of the bars along Low Row if you just want to watch the game. Digby's, Chaplins, Cougar Rose are others worth a look.
Was in in Sunday. It's not bad. Didn't have televisions switched on then,.even though there was football on at the time.
It's good. They have done well with the place. They need to improve their service though. It's probsably just because they are new and learning the systems and such.
The place itself was great. Really well renovated. The middle floor with the big screen was a bit of a let down for the game though, big screen was about 20 seconds behind the regular TVs in the room and the sound was from the delayed big screen. Hopefully teething problems and they'll get it right moving forward.
I’ve been out in Sunderland all afternoon The city is improving so much. Even compared to this time last year, miles better. Ha’way the Sunderland
Turning loads away after the Norwich game.. Sunderland dead as a dodo most of the time and the one time people go out they get turned away for it being “too busy”. Didn’t even look that bad!
Aye, my mate was saying. Reckons it was heaving! Location isn’t great like but it’s ideal once you’re back over the bridge on a match day.
