I have travelled around the UK a lot and have often thought whether a good day out is disguised by a Sunday morning and thinking f*** that.
Top of the tree is Scarborough, have done both, for football and cricket, an absolute toilet.

That's OK @Watameire Wales is really just part of England after all <laugh>

Port Talbot is nasty, but it can't help being that way. Steel is essential to our modern society, but it is not a nice material to manufacture.
The same is true of much of South Wales.
Our Industrial Revolution was run on Coal. In this Country mining Coal was always a dirty, dangerous business and it has left countless scars on the Land and our People, to this day.

Parts of Swansea are nice (I spent quite a while there doing site work) but that's off-topic.

New Cross & Deptford are pretty foul - obviously.
Bermondsey was actually nicer when it was run down - now it's been gentrified and I wouldn't want to spend any time there.

Wembley has a bad rep but there are some good people living there.
It has been spoiled (as many places have I expect) by the recent epidemic of high street casinos and betting shops.

Scarborough is famous for its fish & chip shops & magnificent cricket ground, but not a lot else.

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
    Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine... :emoticon-0159-music

    Trad. Possibly 17th Century.

Probably a bit more genteel than the Horn Fair <smooch>

Saw Adam Hollioake hit a record score there in a Sunday League game around '94.
***Edit, at the time the fastest century, 100 in around 35 balls.

I don’t want to risk upsetting the Hanging Judge aka @lardiman here :emoticon-0106-cryin

I am a born & bred Londoner, and proud of it. I travel around London a lot.

East London is a definite, ****hole. South London in the main is sadly going the same way. The Outer Boroughs are still just about hanging on.

    Oxford Street :emoticon-0172-mooni

Nowhere in London has fallen further.
When I was young it was the ultimate in glamorous high street shopping. The commercial jewel in London's crown.
I used to love going record shopping around there. HMV, Our Price, Tower Records...

    Now it's unspeakable dump.
Worse than Powis Street <doh> and that's saying something.

For many months this year there was a huge Roma Shanty Town at Marble Arch. No sanitation - you can imagine the stench & the pollution. There were hundreds sleeping there, and it became a major public health risk.

A couple of weeks ago Westminster Council & the useless Met police finally got round to closing it. The Romas have promptly dispersed to just about every shop doorway in Oxford St.

Some areas are thankfully protected by property prices, although the scum still visit daily to “teev” and beg.

There’s a shanty town in Canterbury now - probably formed by the Marble Arch lot :emoticon-0121-angry

    Unbelievable.

A beautiful & historic cathedral city, that relies heavily on tourism. Who wants to look at that ??

There should be zero tolerance of it. Deportation.

We still have an underground “privy” in Canterbury, luckily it’s far enough away from the shanty town that it’s not frequented by it’s residents

It didn't take long for this thread to become a platform for anti-immigration politics.
Wasn't the message @Dick Plumb1 posted clear enough?

    Please stop it.
