Last sentence - EXACTLY!!! Bring on a sub who hasn't scored all season or one who has scored regularly, albeit at a lower level. Should have been a no brainer. Perhaps that's the problem on our managerial bench. No brain!!!
Not a good performance but plenty of chances. Now if only we had a striker with a cool head who can be relied upon to convert a fair proportion of our chances. Please see my previous post.
Well, that was............................................. frustrating. You all know me by now, I always try to take the glass half full approach to things, and I'm still, just about there but I've definitely stumbled over my ankle tag from Pucklechurch and have spilt a bit from my glass.... There was plenty to be happy with at times last night. Lots of neat play, playing through the lines, plenty of control... BUT our final pass/shot/decision making was just awful. How many times did we work ourselves into good positions only for a player to decide that he'd just take on one more QPR defender or try pick a pass that just wasn't on? We can credit their keeper with making some smart saves but there were really only one or two that could be considered as being from 'dangerous' shots... Willock needs his butt kicked for the way he lost the ball for their 2nd (which we all knew would come given we'd spent about 20 minutes camped in/around their 18 yard box), such a stupid individual decision by him. Totally agree with questioning Riza on not using Reindorf, however, poor Omer must be pulling his hair out at some of the individual choices being made out there. We were clearly the dominant side but when it came to the most important part of the game we just fell flat. Still, I reckon there's' still enough there to build from. We really do need another one or two forwards in in January - offload Kanga if we can, possibly Meite and maybe even Etete who is fast turning into another another Isaac Vassell. Question is, will it still be Omer at the helm by then or will VT decide that enough is enough again and it's time to go for another 'established' manager/coach??
FFS Brizzo - that was a piss poor QPR not Leeds. I admire your unbridled optimism (I used to be like that ) but we are truly ****. I know we don't have the optimum players at the club we need to control games, but this current coaching/player combination is dreadful.
The result "tis but a scratch" Totally get the comment about how poor the opposition were in comparison to others in the division, and yes, we should have beaten them for sure, but it also can't be denied that we DID dominate the game, we DID create enough chances to beat them, BUT we were just back to our usual standards of finishing and end product... 80% of what we needed to succeed was there, sadly the 20% that was missing was the vital bit!!! I honestly can't argue with Riza's post match comments. As has been pointed out though, he really does need to look at himself too after not throwing in the wildcard of Reindorf. Hell, I'd even have given Daland a go up top for 10 minutes personally. He's shown good composure with the ball and certainly couldn't do any worse than Meite!!
Unless you've argued with the owner , a league manager lives and dies by his decision making - and Riza's is poor. Riza has been found wanting several times on the hoof before last night. 1. Switching to back 3 at Wurzel City cost us 2 points. 2. Bringing on Kanga at any time. 3. Bringing in Ralls for Turnbull last night was a gift to QPR - and I like Ralls. 4. Being far too patient with Colwill who has looked lost this past few games - I'd have given Turnbull the chance in that slot.
All true Sparks. Can't fault their effort but a lack of quality, cohesion and a strikers instinct cost us dearly. While their keeper was probably MoM, their no. 14, Saito, ran the show. He showed so many of the qualities we lack. Colwill could do with watching a video of the game and focus on Saito.
Colwill is capable of the spectacular but it's all too infrequent. His ethos is based on magic moments and not consistent influence. Very often the game passes him by like it has recently. He had a couple of really good performances a month or so back and he was raved about, but not so the last few outings and we've suffered. The reliance on him to produce match winning wizardry is a heavy burden to carry, and Riza, if he's still here needs to lift the load and freshen things up. Both Robbo and Turnbull could do the job but in different ways. Maybe it's time to find out rather just hoping it'll click for the boy - that's what a manager does.
If Colwill could tackle, mark and head the ball he could play in a more withdrawn role with fewer creative pressures. However it appears he can't do any of those things so we're stuffed. His younger brother however....... He can score goals too.
