I don't have an issue with Dawson staying on for the rest of the season for that lovely word stability, but wouldn't be against him being moved on in the summer to allow whoever we do appoint to have a complete say in his backroom staff. I think for now though having some continuity if for no other reason than to help the new manager get up to speed quicker on the squad's strengths/weaknesses is important.
Has the full interview with Coyle been released since last night? RH went off air, said they’d finish the Interview off air but can’t find it anywhere
Slater, who is supposedly in his prime, ran around like a tweaker and still couldn’t get close and lay a glove on an aging Barry Bannan in the first half. Coyle and Jones can’t pass unless it’s to each other and if nobody else is around them and Kamara is Malcolm Ebiowei 2: Electric Boogaloo. Soon to be world-beaters under then next manager, so I’m told.
Doesn't surprise an absolute shocking appointment he was a strange bloke who seemed to hate everyone who questioned him. Over inflated ego.
I think Slater is bang average at this level. Usually game, works hard, doesn’t do loads wrong and versatile enough but having Simmons and slater as 2 of your midfield 3 isn’t good enough for a team with ambition.
The good news is that there are still 87 points left to play for. The bad news is whoever the next manager is, they will not be able to perform miracles with this set of players.
Kamara is better than Ebiowei, that’s harsh. Ebiowei played like he’d just taken a horse tranquiliser before kick off.
Yeah agree but we’re 2 wins off mid table which is about where you’d expect if those start in your midfield every week.
2 wins if mid table and below don't pick up any points, but that won't be the case. Slater is one of the few in the squad I'd say were more suited to a relegation battle, which is what we're in, make no mistake. Simons I'm a little unsure of.
I meant we’re 6 points off where I’d expect us to be in the table with those playing consistently, which is bang average mid table but yeah, I agree, I don’t think you can question either for commitment to the cause, just their status as anything more than functional championship players with very obvious limitations on the ball.
Slaters energy often makes up for perhaps where he's technically limited, which is an asset any good championship squad needs. He contributes as part of a blend if you can get the rest right. I don't think it was ever the intention for Simon's to play such a key role as he has so far this season though.
Slater is ****. id happily see him moved on in Jan except he won’t because there will be **** all takers in the championship.
Slater isn’t going anywhere, he’s a dependable all rounder every team needs that isn’t going to attract much of a transfer fee and is likely on a very reasonable wage. It would be mental for any manager to want to get rid of him. And Coyle and Jones have been 2 of our most solid and reliable players over the last few seasons. Piling criticism on them on the back of a few bad games in this absolute basket case of a team is a little churlish in my opinion.
